I will dispute the notion that you can disambiguate between old and new Spocks by hotness.

Immortal Vulcans that are a bit more chill

Weapons that are impervious to scattering fields and ionized atmospheric radiation that renders phasers inoperable.

Hard feelings towards LOTR you say?
Many times it's been argued that Aragorn and his ghost army would sweep over the Federation, but Janeway was able to protect her ship from ghosts and the Federation figured out how to kill them and turn them into super fuel.
I don't think even a Balrog of Morgoth could stand a chance against federation stience.
Never mind all that; Star Trek has LOTR itself!
