How would they know that you've done it in protest? The point is communicating that it's bullshit so it stops not to fuck up their data whilst they keep doing it.

The article is over sensationalised. Asking users why they're moving to another product or uninstalling a software is very common and has been happening for decades. As long as they don't stop you unless you respond there's nothing harmful here - and they aren't stopping or even delaying you in this case - it's a poll that shows on after you've started downloading.
