Hamster Huey shows up in at least a half-dozen strips. It even has a sequel!
It gets referenced in the webcomic Freefall, where we find out that the incident really was caused by an alien, namely Sam Starfall. We never find out what happened though.
I figured this was just another one of those! I guess in some ways it still is, but still
