  Ohhhhh. I thought this was like when I realized that my furnace had a filter and that it needed to be changed regularly. And that I had not been upgrading it regularly.

That reminds me, I’m overdue to “descale” my coffeemaker
- I did mine recently and air got trapped in the flow metre - had a bad seal & was pulling up air. Machine thought it had not ran enough water through to complete the cycle so was stuck in a loop.
  Also there isn't a method for cleaning out the grinder, apart from opening the whole unit...
  Gotta say I'm not a fan of De'Longhi

  What a mess. Remind never to get a machine with built in grinder
- I use distilled water to curb the need for de-scaling. Still needs a bit apparently so I do it once a year.

  It's breaking down the mineral build up from hard water. Nothing gross just something that happens
- Recently learned that de-scaling a boiler exposes you to lead leaching from the brass walls till it acquires some scale. 🫠

A what?
- Shower screen, the thing that spreads water over the coffee bed in an espresso machine. It makes it so that the water wets the coffee roughly evenly instead of at a single spot. This helps with even extraction. The left is a diffusor the right is the shower screen. The diffusor has the same function but it does rough water distribution to six points in this case. The shower screen spreads it further.
It looks sentient. Did it suddenly start speaking and asked for Cafiza?
