Canadian provinces seek to treat more drug users against their will
  • Or Canada could fix

Surely you mean "and"? I may not have been clear in my previous comment but my point is there is a very small minority that can't be helped in the other ways. That doesn't mean you shouldn't also do all the other things since it's just a very small group that can't be helped that way and that'd be silly.

  • Canadian provinces seek to treat more drug users against their will
  • A few years ago I would've been pretty disgusted with this, but now with frequent contact with entrenched homeless I think it's needed.

There are those few that just seem to be stuck in addiction and anti-social behavior and permanent incarceration or exile are about the only other options. You'd need some robust safeguards though so that it's only used as that last resort after exhausting other options.

  • Granted, it's probably my favourite wallpaper app too and I only learned about it yesterday. It's also my least favourite for the same reason. I've never used it, or any wallpaper app, or even knew they are a thing so it wins by default.

  • I basically agree, the only difference is that it's something you put into your body with potential side effects (extremely rare of course) which feels like it's crossing a different line than PPE.

Combine that with many employers never requiring other vaccines before but adding the COVID vaccine as a requirement for employment not just for new hires but people already employed and I think it was just a bit too far. Maybe if people had the option of really masking up or something instead and they refused that too would I feel better about it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm like triple or quadruple vaccinated for COVID at this point, but that's because I felt it was the best course of action. I would've not been a fan of my employer requiring it even though it's something I was going to do anyway.

  • I'm hoping it's just political grand-standing fluff and no (further) damage to the health system. You can already refuse vaccines.

That said, employers requiring vaccination as condition of employment outside of some select sectors during COVID did feel like a line was crossed

  • Soul Reaver remaster release date, screens and trailer leak via PlayStation and it all looks far too shiny
  • Interesting, never knew they were doing a remaster.

I kind of agree with the article; something about those PS1 graphics implies more of a crunchy texture that's lost in the remastered models. Now it looks like a cuter more palatable version, like if it was Kingdom Hearts.

  • The enormous scale of global food waste.
  • Yes I'm thinking areas where it's more common to just walk to the local store and buy groceries every couple of days have less food waste than ones where you do bigger trips less often

  • California governor signs law banning all plastic shopping bags at grocery stores.
  • The number of "reusable" bags I now encounter in the environment that contain way more plastic than the disposable ones (and can't be used as garbage bags so now other disposable bags are created/used instead) makes me really skeptical banning plastic bags helps at all

  • People who pirated in the late 90s and early 00s what is the most dramatic change from then till now? And if you had the power what would you bring back?
  • I already do. I also want to pay my way.

The problem is what I'd like doesn't exist (I'm not going to subscribe you a million different websites and still not even be ad free) and probably can't. How much do all the ads I'm blocking cost? It'd be ripe for abuse but I'd essentially like a taxi meter, but it would charge me for website use from just one central account that I top up or is part of my internet bill or whatever.

I want the whole business model of using ads and tracking to pay for the internet to not exist.

Change what tapping on a comment does?

I keep missing the vote buttons and accidentally tap on comments which then collapses them. I've accidentally collapsed/expanded some comments several times trying to vote.

Is there a setting somewhere I'm not seeing that changes this? Maybe to a long press or force needing to use the three dot menu to collapse instead.
