Hi there, new to Linux here. Been using fedora for around a couple months, in fedora 42 rn. Was going about my business today, had a dnf update that was blocked by some VLC issue I understand is happening right now. I fixed it with the method geraldo mentions in this thread: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/is-anyone-else-getting-this-vlc-clash-while-updating-to-most-recent-bits/156609/6

Dnf update went through after that, however I started having weird issues. Steam, discord and Firefox all worked well enough was able to play some stellar blade and Helldivers 2 without issue, however konsole was consistently crashing everytime I opened it. Then I tried restarting and the restart menu itself was crashing. Did a bit of research and I saw there's an issue with the new kernel update?

So I selected one of the older kernels in my GRUB menu upon booting my PC but now when I boot any of the available kernels (including a 6.14 fedora 41 one) the desktop just crashes and I get told plasmashell has crashed and there's nothing I can do.

I'm dual-booting windows so I can fallback on windows for the time-being but how am I supposed to get back to using my fedora desktop now? Am I just going to have to wait for an update to be rolled out? How do I even apply that update if my desktop is just crashing upon entry. I'd rather not reinstall if possible.
