As a native English speaker with some French, I've always wanted to open a food market and call it Fat Cherries.

English - Groceries:

  • The commodities sold by a grocer or in a grocery.
  • Plural form of grocery. Multiple retailers of groceries. French - gros ceries:
  • gros = fat (big)
  • cerises = cherries

  • "gros" means more than just "fat" and it's still the word at the root (or head) of the grosserie . Commerce en gros, wholesale.

also, cerise is female. you would need to say grosse + the plural: grosses cerises 🤷

    • He did mention he's an English native, though, he'd likely butcher the pronunciation so it sounds like Fat Cherries 😃
