President Joe Biden on Friday for the first time publicly acknowledged his seventh grandchild, a 4-year-old girl fathered by his son Hunter with an Arkansas woman, Lunden Roberts, in 2018.
He’s very similar to Trump’s kids in that he repeatedly tries to leverage his father for stuff he’s undeserving of. We should care a bit, because we should care about nepotism, even if it’s not his father’s nepotism.
I'm sure he doesn't want to draw further attention to poor Hunter, who is persecuted for no reason by Republicans, and perhaps cause his granddaughter to be harmed.
But for her sake, at least he's acknowledging her. Imagine growing up and being called the one that grandpa wouldn't mention. This removes that from her, which I think is important, and I hope he at least recognized.
There is no world where any of this is in Navy's best interest. Republicans are harping on it because they think it will hurt Biden, Biden is "publicly acknowledging for the first time" to prevent it from being a drain on that same campaign.
We don't know any of the interpersonal relationships at work here and certainly what is "publicly acknowledged" now vs in December 2024 is not going to cause psychological harm to a 4 year old.
As long as he didn't mention her, the media kept at him for not mentioning her. You don't think this would be a GOP talking point to besmirch his character during the next election?
Quote from NY Times: "The story surrounding the president’s grandchild in Arkansas, who has not yet met her father or her grandfather, is about money, corrosive politics and what it means to have the Biden birthright."
