EU countries deadlocked on plan to extend approval of weedkiller glyphosate
European Union governments failed on Friday to give a decisive opinion on a proposal to extend by 10 years EU approval for the use of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Bayer's Roundup weedkiller.
Bayer/Monsanto should be banned from face of the Earth.
I am not in favor of executions but there are some higher ups and lobbyists that really get me to doubt that position!
The deadlock at least means that it won't be extended, doesn't it?
According to the article, it would then go to the Commission.
The European Commission said in a statement there was no qualified majority either way in a vote by a committee of the EU's 27 members.
EU governments will try again in the first half of November when another failure to produce a clear opinion would leave the decision with the European Commission.
My guess, without inside knowledge, is that the EC would decide to keep it available, as it's considered acceptable now.
