  • Never been. But I went to enough bars in my 20’s that would make any alcoholic proud.

Oh yeah…. I’m an alcoholic. The last time I stepped foot in an actual bar not tied to a restaurant was 20ish years ago. Bars made sense back then until the state banned smoking in bars.

Clubs were never my thing, not my choice in music for the most part. But towards the end of my drinking career I would have gone anywhere if there was alcohol.

  • Well, not a lot of seals in my area, so never.

    What? Oh not that clubbing!

Bad jokes aside, it has been a long time. I wanna say 2006? It was after the disability piano got dropped on my head like a bad cartoon for sure. Might have been as recently as 2009 though, because that span was not conducive to good memory formation. Somewhere in there though.

Even that one wasn't so much clubbing as going to a single place and enjoying a drag show with friends. It was, however, a club and there was dancing as well as very light drinking (on my part, everyone else was lit lol). I even got a fully clothed lap dance from one of the performers, which was fun as hell.

It was also a very healing thing, psychologically. I'd gone through a painful breakup post disability, was feeling unattractive and unwanted in my new body (the breakup wasn't because of the disability, just badly timed, but it still hit hard). Going out, getting hit on a little, catching up with people I used to know from my bouncing days at the club, it was very fulfilling.

  • Probably around 15 years ago. Although, the alternative clubs I went to were kinda something between a club and a pub, I'd say. Definitely not nearly as tightly packed and awful as dance clubs, which I never enjoyed. So, within those 15 years I've been to alternative pubs and small gigs here and there, which maybe counts as the same thing. So the last time I went to a gig was probably 5 or 6 years ago. I'm actually itching to start going out to gigs again though, just need to not be broke all the time.

Not sure if any of that really counts as 'clubbing' though. An alternative club and a dance club are completely different experiences. And as far as dance clubs go, I went once or twice with friends and hated it and mostly just found a chair or couch or something and waited to go home.

I've never been a fan of much top 40 or dance music, those aren't my people and between the way too packed conditions, the music, obnoxious DJs yelling on the mic and smoke machines and shit, dance clubs just give me a headache.
