In 1939 there were in Germany roughly 34 million German white men who did not belong to any targetted minority group. In 1945 roughly 5 million of these were German white men dead. Do those sound like good odds to you?

I would like to add that even if you survive, your lives will still be miserable. Only the rich get richer in fascism, for example, German wages in the 3rd Reich fell down to Great Depression levels (unions were targeted first by Hitler) and people also had to work a lot more hours. After Hitler had pissed off all trade partners there was also a lot of scarcity of basic stuff - towards the end, soldier's uniforms were literally being made out of cardboard because there was no wool left (Germany didn't have a lot of sheep and couldn't grow cotton).

Besides the war, under fascism hunger and disease are justified to "toughen up" the "volk" and weed out the "untermenschen". You can already see how RFK and the tariffs are setting the stage for both. Suffering will be seen as proof of your obedience, objection to the suffering will be considered disloyalty and punished.

When trump was elected and I was considering what countries to move I consulted a friends. He's a progressive dude, I'm a socialist both white. Most of our political conversations revolve around whether the workers really need to own the means of production or if you just build enough, a safety net and welfare stayed on top of capitalism.
And shrimp was elected. I was sure he would be as worried about it as I was. He tried to calm me down by jokingly saying " I'm a straight white man. What's the worst they're going to do? Make me marry two wives"?

Socially, war is a way to forcefully redistribute suffering and resources. This is a somewhat old (thousands of years) cultural tradition: instead of rationing and even sacrificing (yes, voluntary human sacrifice), the sacrifice and misery is turned into this team competition. In such civilizations, it's likely that rulers understood that they're "culling their populations" by going to war with other elites and having this "mutual sacrifice" going on. This is more evident with colonialism and capitalism, with war being a racket in the context of catabolic capitalism.
The reason we say "NO WAR EXCEPT FOR CLASS WAR" is, well, class war is already happening and the other forms of war are used to maintain the class hierarchy.
(Some) leftists do have a problem with tolerating class war violence, with making up excuses. I see it with those who make up excuses for the genocide of indigenous people by the hand of settlers, miners, ranchers and others who are trying to accumulate wealth in capitalism's rat race. So...

I disagree to some extent with the claim total war is integral to fascism.
It was integral to nazism under Hitler and maybe Mussolini's fascism (though I don't know enough about the latter). But Franco very much did not require total war to be fascist. None of his wars were total wars as all of them were rather small and not particularly noteworthy. Even the civil war wasn't a total war, despite its significant death toll.
Fascism is very much hungry for wars. But there's a bit of a "natural selection" going on where the Hitler-like total war fanatics usually last a couple of years at most while the more restrictive fascists can remain in power for many decades at least. You can see the latter with Franco's Spain or Putin's Russia.
The only good thing about fascism is once the dictator dies there's a significant risk of collapse.

I really want to argue, but that would result in total derailment to a minor detail that doesn't change the points made in the post in any way, so I'll just let people search for Franco and Putin on their own and not give it more thought or consideration
