Political play, Israel hasn't went all in on Ukraine. This could be part of an agreement for weapon share, experience share, intel share, etc etc. Diplomacy is a fucked up thing.

...you do realize that the ONLY reason the money coming in to Ukraine at the pace it is is because he said exactly the right things on the world stage at the right time in such a charismatic way that people believed in him enough that fundraising basically started flowing in?
His diplomatic/networking/fundraising acumen is WHY the money is flowing in, ya doofus.
Why the hell wouldn't he be furiously trying to arrange in-person meetings where he can use his personal social skills to forge diplomatic ties?

So, you're saying that him going to visit Israel in person will result in more aid to Ukraine, enough to outweigh the costs of facilitating such a visit?

I think that Ukraine would receive the same amount of aid regardless of if Zelensky goes to Israel in person.

What a shitty article to paint this as a fully cynical political action. Outside of Isreal and Ukraine facing the same enemy its important to remember that the vast majority of jews in the USSR were in the Ukrainian SSR and now have ties to modern day Ukraine. It'd be nice for Axios to at least mention that there is a cultural link between Isreal and Ukraine.

You think there were a lot of Jews in Ukraine because there were anti-Semitic nationalists in Ukraine?

Nope those were the reason there were so few Jews left in Ukraine. Still the most of all the USSR's republics, though. Not entirely surprising Ukraine has been habitually multiethnic since pretty much forever and it's not exactly far from Jerusalem.

Zelensky would be a fool to do anything differently. His personal opinions, nor ours, have no play here.
Yeah. realistically Isreal could offer Ukraine a lot more in help than Palestine. The sad reality, gotta kneel before the rich and kinda ignore what they do the poor if you want something. And Zelensky certainly wants some things.
