I am very new to Lemmy, and I am using the Eternity app. But I am wondering which one you guys are using, and maybe there are better one's than Eternity without me knowing

Voyager with the Android theme enabled, it looks quite nice and feels more polished than other clients
I'm using thunder because it's the best of what I've tried.
I like Jerboa because it's very straightforward and has no frills.
I used boost until I saw it was sending me dark pattern ads from an ad network, to which the dev had noted they reported it, until it happened again and I moved to voyager, where I no longer have such a problem.
Thunder
Connect
seconding Connect, it Works
Yeah third for connect, and tbe creator is super responsive and genuinely tries
I use boost, I like it's swipe view. It's mostly just what I was using with reddit and there's no reason to switch.
Voyager because it looks and feels like Apollo for Reddit (RIP BTW)
My Apollo still works for browsing somehow
I'm using Voyager too!
And it seems to be the most trustworthy when it comes to data imo
Exactly why I picked it.
This.
Jerboa sorely lacks the absolute basic feature of searching for keywords in posts. It only supports searching for community names. I can't think of any other app that does NOT support general search.
So Voyager for me, mostly because it has the most active developer.
I had to switch away from Jerboa because it would crash any time I'd create a link with custom text in my comments. I switched to Voyager and it's on lot more stable.
Voyager.
Me too. Voyager is a fine name but there was something dumb/charming about the name Wefwef.
Thunder, it's really good
Sync
Boost. I used it on Reddit, continued to use it through the mod workaround, switched to Boost for Lemmy after they shut that down yesterday, and now here I am.
Same, but you can repatch boost for reddit to work again. Check the boost Lemmy sub, it has a pretty big post on it.
I also use Boost.
The only thing I think it's missing is a seamless way to open other instances' homepage.
literally my story
Same, boost layout is just so clean. Sad I couldn't keep my ad free existence from the other app but guy deserves to be paid.
Same, Boost is really good.
I also agree with Boost. I was super bummed when it got shut down. It actually gave me the kick to join Lemmy.
Raccoon.
It's the one that stuck after trying them all for a long time.
oh cool it's The Thread
use sync
I have tried almost all clients on Android.
Best In my opinion:
To me thunder has the best UI and UX overall, even though I prefers the "card view" feed from Raccoon and some functions of Jerboa.
i agree. Thunder is the best. It's even better than paid apps
Yep, tried everything and Thunder is the best for me.
I've moved from Boost to Thunder. It's a great experience so far.
You can't hide the bottom bar on thunder, can you?
Did you rank these in a particular order, or is it just four that you like?
I used Jerboa when I first transitioned from Reddit, but eventually someone recommended Voyager because it is similar to the RiF app I used to use. I like the interface of Voyager more than Jerboa, and I've been using it for a while, but I'm still open to checking out other apps.
Did you rank these in a particular order, or is it just four that you like?
In preferred order.
Jerboa has everything you might need related to Lemmy functions, as it is the native app developed by the same Lemmy authors. But I feel the interface is not as good as Thunder's. And as for Voyager, I dislike the interface because is reminiscent of old iPhone interfaces (even though you can change it something similar to Android). And as far as I remember Thunder's post's comments view is better for me. In my opinion Thunder has the better combination of Function, UI and UX.
Do you use thunder on iPad? How do you exit from a video link, eg youtube? There is no back or X or gesture.
I would suppose with the same gestures as the image ones but since you mention is not that then I would assume it could work with native iOS gestures? I'm sorry, do not own any Apple devices. I suggest asking on Thunder's community or making an issue on Github.
Jerboa. From the Lemmy devs and works great.
Voyager
Excellent app
Eternity
Infinity was my favorite Reddit app and I saw that Eternity existed, so I switched to it the moment it releasedits first alpha. I see no reason to use anything else unless it breaks and is no longer maintained.
For those that use Voyager, is it possible to remove the bottom bar?
... You need that bar to navigate between settings, inbox and feeds etc.
Been using Thunder for a year.
Jerboa. Of the ones I have tried, it feels the most like Baconreader (RIP) to me.
I like and use Thunder. It's cross platform on iOS and Android so I get the same consistent interface from my iPad and my android phone.
Damn, I’m the only one using Mlem?
Also an Mlem user, here
Nope, I do too and I like it. I have no complaints so I am not too worried about missing out on some other features.
There’s dozens of us!
Boost and got the paid version. It's clean and responsive.
That's what I use, too. I think most of what makes Boost so great is that the developer initially made it for Reddit, so they put a lot of work into the user experience and it runs great. Plus since I primarily used it for Reddit, it feels very familiar to use it for Lemmy.
There's a paid version?
I mean I paid to remove ads.
I just use the mobile browser. I use Mull for that.
The Mull browser project shut down along with the rest of DivestOS. You may want to consider IronFox.
Oh, thanks! I'll move over there. Appreicate it!
Eternity is a solid one, was my main for quite some time until I used Voyager while waiting for Eternity to to update to work with the latest Lemmy at the time, and ended up sticking with Voyager.
I do miss the user avatars though, voyager doesn't have those.
Had to scroll to the bottom for this Gem!! Eternity is rock solid.
Jerboa hits that same sweet spot that RIF did.
I'm using summit. It's pretty good
Another shoutout to summit, coming from an ex-Sync user. It's very nice.
And very active
Also Summit. It was the first Android app i saw for it and I just went with it. No complains so far.
I'm using sync, not to sure about tbh
Haven't seen anyone mention connect
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kuroneko.lemmy_connect
Closest to reddit is fun. When RiF got blocked was when I made the switch.
I've managed to set up Summit to be close enough to the RiF-experience. Probably even a bit better.
Back and forth between jerboa and Voyager. No reason why both, I just do.
I am using boost for lemmy for some time now and am very happy with that app. I've tried jerboa, summit and thunder before but they felt somewhat incomplete at the time I used them.
Boost
Mobile browser because I have more control over what gets left behind on my device. I don't really trust apps, I don't like putting other people's code on my device unless I can review it, it's a trust thing and as a q υ є є я American I'd like to have a as little that could potentially be spying on my as possible in life.
Same here. I tried Boost and didn't like it. Eternity works just fine.
Just deleted my Wefwef icon today. Replaced with the app version of Voyager.
Mlem
Mlem on iPhone - I like it best
Does the simple webversion count? I am using the qwant browser on android.
Thunder, because it works best with accessibility features like VoiceOver and TalkBack: https://github.com/thunder-app/thunder
I use lemmy via mbin in the app interstellar.
At first I used Jerboa, after some time it didn't work anymore with my old instance. I switched to Voyager for a long time, switched instances as my old one got abandoned and defunct from the owner. After some time Voyager didn't work anymore with my new instance and now I am using Raccoon.
I use Boost the most, mainly because I used the reddit version for so long and liked that. I love being able to easily block keywords, users, communities, etc. which keeps my feed tidy. I also like that if I've read a post already, I don't see it again in my feed. It feels easy to find communities, as well. I'm sure most of the popular apps are just as good, but this one suits me best. I sometimes also use Jerboa with another account, just so I'm not putting my eggs in one basket. I have tried Connect, too, which also seems really good.
Sadly, my Boost for Reddit app finally stopped working yesterday. I think someone has posted a solution somewhere, but I'm tempted to just give up on reddit now.
I agree with the blocking one thing I miss is blocking by domains to filter out posts from known misinformation sources.
Summit! And love it.
I'm using Lemmy connect and I find it... Not great. It doesn't tell me when I have responses. I mean at all. I don't allow push notifications. But my inbox is empty so I look at "read messages" and there's tons there that I've never seen.
Also when user post only a pic in their response, you can't upvote it without carefully touching their tiny name with your fat thumb to reveal the buttons. And when you touch a longer post you are reading to scroll you often close it? And the tree system/order of responses and what is collapsed vs not and where they uncollapse to is unpredictable and at the very least, very what I expect...
I guess I should not use this one....
I came from reddit a few years back and was a staunch baconreader user.
Eternity for lemmy has been wonderful.
any "beef" I have is with content/community which are getting better and not related to the client I use.
I used Thunder for a long time, but I have been giving Arctic a try lately and like it. I will likely give Mlem another shot after the next update. Voyager is another great one, but I have not used it for a while.
Overall, there are a lot of great Lemmy apps and I love that most of them did not get abandoned after the initial wave from the Reddit exodus died down. I think we have more high-quality Lemmy apps than there were for Reddit.
I currently browse around through Quiblr
Boost.
I've bounced around several clients (mobile) and frontends (web) especially when I first started. I've eventually settled on Voyager (mobile) and Alexandrite (web frontend).
Voyager has a lot of neat features that makes browsing Lemmy on mobile smooth and an overall nice experience. It's got swipe gestures (configurable, but mine has long swipe left to upvote, long swipe left to save, short swipe right to downvote, and long swipe right to reply). There's also a feature to tag a user, and to keep track of votes (in aggregate, so I wouldn't know if I give a user an upvote in one thread, and a downvote in another, yielding a net zero, or I just haven't given that user a vote at all). Still a nice set of features. There might be more that I have yet to discover and use.
Alexandrite, on the other hand, presents a really good desktop experience. There's an option to have the posts (on my feed, or a community) on the left side of the screen and the post I'm reading on the right, which is great if I am just scanning a my feed, deciding if I want to take a closer look at a post. I end up mostly just using this mode most of the time.
Both Voyager and Alexandrite allow me to switch between my Lemmy accounts easily, which is a great plus if you're having a handful of accounts (for different purposes, like one main, another for NSFW, etc).
IMO, the clients (for mobile) have a lot of competition going on, and I wouldn't be surprised if I find a different one I'd like better. Just keep an eye out for those, I guess?
VOY
Summit, it's the best.
