While I agree with you that it was a very wise decision by the Général to retain an independent nuclear deterrent and develop modern aircraft independently, the French tank development has been sorely lacking. There are roughly five times as many Leopard IIs in service as there are Leclercs. I hope the joint development of a next generation tank can deliver, as European armies really should try to work towards a common and independent development of systems.
Germany has sent almost four times as much in military aid as France so far so I hope you're right
All of that but with much more conviction was in yesterday's Emmanuel Macron speech.
Yeah he basically just repeated what everyone and their grandmother has been demanding for weeks now anyway

Since I speak French fluently I was able to watch the full video of Emmanuel Macron's address to the nation and I found it great.
i would certainly wish all he is stating in there is of a universal consensus, yet you might agree there are descending voices in Europe and such speeches have their importance after all.
