Own a gun safe. And go to the range. Often.
And know your state law. If you do use it inside the confines of your home, what then happens to you per your state laws?
I say this as a gun owner.

yeah, guns are a huge liability 😆
honestly we need organized community militias more than we need disconnected armed individuals, esp. considering there are some studies that found being armed increases probability of being killed in a conflict

My fear is the person sho buys one, sticks it in a drawer, and never fires it.
You know the standard for a newbie when they first fire one? ONE bullet in the clip. For safety. There’s a reason for this.
What would be cool is your gay, trans, etc gunowning friends starting a group, so everyone’s on the same page for safety. Even lessens to break down and clean your gun, together, are good. And so on.
Gun owning is fine but it requires training and safety. The safe will cost as much as the gun.
