They have to say that, otherwise it's assumed to be another Christian cult.

Nobody will hear about this because we live inside a racist imperial bubble.
Imagine if this happened to people with pale skin.

- Conservatives might still pick it up and run with the "Christian" part while completely ignoring the racial aspect. They love being able to play the persecution card in the news.

I was going to make a poor taste joke that obviously this is a lie by the IDF, since there seems to be a cadre of posters here who can't accept that any bad behavior by a person in the name of Islam is [anything other than] ~~just~~ Western or Zionist propaganda.

  Fuck off with your gaslighting, Islam is an expansionary monotheistic religion. It doesn't tolerate different groups.
  You can be a Muslim and a good person. You can't be a devoted Muslim and a good person. As being devoted to Islam requires to enforce Islam on society.

  Not the case. I understand that the vast majority of Muslims have no desire to murder infidels or apostates. However, it would be ignorant to deny that there are extremist groups who use the religion to justify violence against Christians, Jews, Druze, Hindus, and other Muslim sect. Maybe their leaders are just using religion as a tool for their political aims, but probably some of them are ardent believers too.

  Seems to be a local news agency. There are some other outlets corroborating the story, though I can't find any evidence (e.g. images/witness accounts) other than these stories.
  This Newsweek article is a bit shit because it's using quotes from right-wing internet trolls about this, which is quite poor when it comes to quality standards. But I'm not so sure the premise of the article is a lie, it could very well have happened, and I don't have evidence to the contrary.
