Cobot: Coworker Robot. How do you think we will fare when the ‘new guy’ at work is a machine? As these machines become increasingly intelligent and closer to sentience, how will we share the spoils of our labour? Will we have the same rights in the workplace?
That is a very good point, the world would be a far darker place if the concept of withholding labour hadn’t come about. Another question - what would make the robots want to strike?
I would not treat the robot like a human, because it is not a human. I would not be quick to give robots human rights, rights derived from human concepts. There would need to be some sort of robot bill of rights perhaps, but I do not think the rights of robots perfectly overlap with the rights of humans.
My empathy is limited to them because we do not feel or think in the same manner. It's arguable that robots are even alive at all. I'm going to, as always, proceed with much skepticism.
