The House Ethics Committee’s long-awaited report into Rep. Matt Gaetz documents a trove of salacious allegations of misconduct, including sex with an underage girl, that tanked the Florida Republican’s nomination to lead the Justice Department.
I keep seeing that he didn't know the girl was underage at the time of their first encounter as if that makes it ok? I thought the law didn't give a shit about, "sorry I didn't know she was underage".
She didn't have to ask. She wouldn't have been there if there wasn't some sort of compensation. That's a given in sex contracts. He didn't give her a ring or propose. He didn't profess true love. Betting it's not the only underage girl either. Most would be afraid to speak up. He just got caught on this one. Remember, deny, deny deny - the Republican motto.
Devil's advocate: The FBI falls under the executive branch. Maybe allowing the executive branch to police Congress like that is seen as an unhealthy power imbalance from a higher perspective.
