Lesbian, gay, bisexual veterans face higher odds for prevalent ASCVD vs. straight peers

Lesbian, gay and bisexual U.S. veterans had significantly higher odds for prevalent atherosclerotic CVD compared with their heterosexual peers, according to findings published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
Why though?
The hypothesis I'd explore (feel free to give me the funding!) would be that the societal pressure and stresses of being lesbian, gay, or bi in the US (let alone in the armed forces) would be the culprit. We already know that stress increases your chances of heart disease, so that's where I'd look first. But that's a scientific wild-ass guess.
