Why even bother with the diagnostics? Just reverse the polarity. 7/11 times that fixes the damn problem, and when it doesn’t, then run the diagnostics and then go crawl in some Jeffries tubes for the rest of the episode.

12 0 ReplyI mean, we are talking about the Chief of engineering.
Level 1-2 diagnostics should already have been done by lower ranks.
He's probably the only one allowed to run level 3.
8 0 ReplyIt's a TNG joke that Geordi only runs level 1 and 3 diagnostics.
He does run level 2, but it's rare.
15 0 ReplyIf I had to guess (and I am) they probably look something like:
Level 1 diagnostic: reboot it
Level 2 diagnostic: persussive maintenance (looked down upon by Starfleet)
Level 3 diagnostic: actually check logs and reference documentation for any error messages present

If something is worth doing, it is worth doing well.
Unless you can half-ass it, in which case definitely do that!:-)
8 0 Replyor in this case, either do it well or third-ass it if you can.

I think my favorite part about the TNG universe is not having to hear AI propaganda from every direction.
Just one Data, trying to be more human.
