I can only assume they mean in the Talking Heads-iest sense of the phrase
Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underoverground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underoverground
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
It'll still be bad for the costal regions, but avoiding landfall will hopefully cause the damage to be more limited. Even though that means Tampa is totally fucked now
Luckily comrade Milton and friends have saved their strength for the USInc. of A. Put into perspective, when the weather is actually severe, like Helene, the electricity and/or water may be turned off for a time to protect the infrastructure, that did not happen this time. Confirming that it was only a bit stormy for a few hours. Didn't even notice it tbh. Hope Floridian comrades can stay safe.
I remember a lot about Katrina and now it seems like that same part of the country is just going to get hit by hurricanes larger each month on a regular basis. Part of the problem with Katrina was government incompetence and not being ready for it. Not a lot has changed since then. I think they reinforced some sea walls?
I think the sea walls were actually a major cobtributing factor in Katrina. The main thing government does is coordinate evacuations, repair delivery infrastructure (like roads), and distribute resources. All of those are more difficult to do if the sea walls break and the damage is worse than forecasted.
