completely unrelated situation, but I've seen a similar kind of dynamic with all the Diddy allegations, where people are more disgusted by the possibility that he might be gay/bi than the fact that he sexually abused several people and possibly covered up attempted murder and who knows what else

I'm glad that so far the "looting" rhetoric around Helene is fairly tame. Even when I hear people say it they usually follow it up with "but I understand why".
It's still real bad up here, but the average man on the street is more pissed at businesses and apartment complexes immediately price gouging than any "looting"
