ITT: "Reagan would be right because Wham! sucks" people who don't get the connection between the massive popularity and rabid fanbase of Wham! in the 80s and the one for Taylor Swift now.
The Final was the farewell concert by English pop duo Wham!. It was held at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 28 June 1986.[1] A total of 72,000 people attended the event
George Michael had his flaws, but he was an earnest, hard-working, and occasionally insightful person. Check out his take on Joy Division as compared to Morrisey and some random DJ: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj3HOklzUTo
I always knew he was a monster. But this is just beyond the pale. One does not say they hate the creators of the best Christmas song “Last Christmas” (or maybe second best if Christmas Wrapping is in the mix).
Last Christmas is not the best Christmas song. It's the most overplayed one here in Denmark and probably other countries too. Last Christmas is to Denmark what All I Want For Christmas Is You is to the US, possibly worse.
Anyway, the BEST Christmas song is and will always be Queen's Thank God It's Christmas, in spite of the religious reference in the title and chorus.
Of course most overplayed. I mean at least here in Germany, that's a huge meme that as soon as Christmas time begins, Last Christmas is unavoidable and no matter where you go, you'll hear it everywhere (also on every radio station).
So Wham is often mentioned in a negative light due to this (e.g. "A radio station without Wham - that would be a [great] present" in a comedian's song).
I'm not much of a Wham! fan, but apart from anything else, George Michael is one hell of a singer. I like the solo stuff he did after leaving Wham! a lot more. I think "Freedom! 90" is an amazing song.
What is it with him and exclamation points anyway?
