That's sad.
I do dearly love and frequently use the Internet Archive, but I don't even know what they were thinking. Like it or not (and generally, I don't), we live in a capitalist society, so of course you can't scan books currently in print and for sale, to be uploaded and shared on the internet, without permission from the publishers.
