I hate myself and it’s all your fault.
I hate myself and I oughta not,
I hate myself it’s so sad but true,
Cuz I hate myself while I should be hating you.
The song is sung by Bobby Bare Jr, who is the son of Bobby Bare Sr, the country music star. It’s written by Shel Silverstein, a couple years before he passed away. Silverstein was a pretty prolific writer with something like 800 songs registered with BMI. Silverstein wrote songs that dozens of artists covered and made hits, along with Bare Jr’s father, who recorded a whole album of Silverstein’s songs.
