Did Bernie Sanders ruin the possibility for mass movements to manifest in the near future?
Or was it Biden's victory and liberal's exhaustion with politics in a Trump-era world?
I can't help but wonder if the presence of a Democrat in the presidency just sort of pacifies liberal, left, and radical mass movements and mobilization.
The same thing happened in 2008/2009 after Obama got elected. The whole occupy wall st movement fizzled out, and Obama shut down OFA and let all the energy dissipate.
They did the same with BLM. That’s something that was smart about the defund the police movement. By naming the movement about a specific action that Dems don’t want to do, they can’t co-opt it.
One of the best parts of trot theory is the concept of a transitional demand, a demand that looks completely achievable and reasonable, but that capital finds so threatening (since it would render them unstable) that liberal parties can't even pretend to support it.
