No other details have been released yet, just that it was an "accident".
I dont get overly angry when a high profile person or celebratory dies, but the way in which this happened makes me angry and sad. No one should get hit while cycling, and no one should be driving under the influence especially in the age of Uber and Lyft.
More than just a family, think of all the team mates and people they have worked with in the past. Think of the charitable organizations who they partnered with. While some (including me) have called them goons, the fact is these too had outsizes impacts on the communities they were apart of just because of their talents. The whole world is poorer for this loss and every loss like it.
I hate this being reported as a cycling accident. Nothing about their cycling was unexpected or unforseen.
It was if anything, a driving accident that killed two innocent fathers, and given that it seems that the driver was drunk and overtaking two cars on the right, not what I would classify as an unforeseeable "accident".
