A long time ago I remember reading about mechanical nano computers as an idea and this got me to look that up again. Apparently that idea is still around and is more prevalent than I expected (though that's an extremely low bar) e.g. https://www.cnet.com/science/darpa-funds-mechanical-nanocomputer/
This reminds me of Minecraft redstone computers. Its great to see that does translate to the real world too with a GUI. (I'm aware that the very first computers themselves were mechanical calculations machines)
That's so damn cool. Honestly, stuff like this makes me want to learn some engineering. I'm an electrician so going back to school isn't really a priority, but down the line...
