I was wondering, is this a tough game solo?
I've read that it's souls like and I've never been particularly good at or have the patience for games like that, but I've been interested in remnant for a while. It looks like it's a blast. I just want to be sure it's not super unforgiving and frustrating to play like souls games have been for me before I buy it.
I played the first one solo and had tons of fun. Some bosses felt like bs but they were manageable with an adjustment in strategy. It definitely doesn't have dark souls frustration levels, it's a more straightforward game.
The first one is easier than a dark souls, it never really gets to that difficulty (although I did stop at the final boss as it’s gimmick was super annoying) but the first game is kind of based around multiplayer as almost every boss spawns ads constantly.
Its 100% doable solo. I am super bad at soulslike games, but this one is much easier as its mainly ranged focused. As bosses scale based on the number of players (hit points, damage, sometimes number of add) some of them are even easier solo and the game is more predictable and tactical.
Its true there are some annoying places where coop is an advantage, mainly where you need to defend something or someone from waves of enemies, but that is probably 2% of the whole experience and you can always re-roll worlds to get a different boss and dungeons.
There are also summoner/turret/sniper builds to even the odds, but you can pretty much beat it with any build.
That’s how the first one was. The gimmick was that maps were randomized and instanced with specific events possible to show up. It incentivized re-running each map 6-7 times so you saw all the quests and bosses. It was very balanced around multiplayer though, so hopefully they’ve improved that.
Maybe this is why I bounced off. When I played, it felt okay up until I came up against my first boss, which was a total wall that kept teleporting away and kept spawning infinite enemies.
I mean, it's still 50 Dollar. I concede that calling it an AAA game is not right, but it's still an expensive game that I will not buy at launch, certainly no pre-order.
