I have Jerboa, Liftoff, Thunder and Connect installed and cycled through them to test them out.
But lately i noticed i seem to be gravitating towards Connect.
I like the look and feel of Jerboa, but it has a bug on my device where I'll be typing and it'll just jump to middle of the post and start deleting/overwriting stuff.
I like how Liftoff can provide a unified All feed with content from all instances, but the feed just looks so noisy and icon-heavy
Connect seems the most well-rounded and the closest to a Relay for Reddit replacement, so I've been mainly gravitating toward that.
Thunder just didn't hit with me for whatever reason.
I briefly tried Jerboa, but I kept getting errors when trying to connect to some instances. I switched over to Connect, and that's been working well for me so far. The dev is making consistent updates.
Thunder was the first I tried two weeks ago but didn't really like it at all. Maybe it's time to try it again, though it seems I have trouble logging in on it now.
I used to like Liftoff the most, but something changed in the last update and I don't like the new appearance of the feed as much.
I still go between it, Jerboa and Voyager and sometimes Connect. I don't like how Liftoff handles replies in the inbox, for one reason. It also shows only combined votes, not separate up/downvotes, while Voyager and Connect require an extra click to vote/reply to comments.
lemmy.world in a browser (mobile version ofc) with a shortcut. I prefer it over any app at the moment because of the good UI and no missing functionality.
Liftoff. I tried Jerboa, Connect and Liftoff and bounced between Connect and Liftoff for a while, but I mostly gravitated towards Liftoff. It's OK for now, but I don't think any of these apps will stay on my phone once Boost is released.
Thunder continues to top itself with big updates every week, and now it's officially on the Play Store! If you don't mind downloading apps from GitHub, the semi-nightly pre-releases are quite stable. Upcoming release already has a bunch more fixes and features, so keep an eye on it even if you bounced off initially!
Has basic functionality like marking posts as read after scrolling past them, has a "hide read" option on the FAB button and has a History tab so all hidden posts that you opened will show there.
Also, it opens links on custom browser tabs.
I haven't found another app that does all 4. If someone knows please let me know.
I really like Thunder. The slide actions are awesome - you upvote posts pushing them to the right, reply pushing to the left etc. it's very ergonomic :)
I have been using Connect for Lemmy and it is getting better with each update.
I have registered for Boost for Lemmy but I am skeptial whether I will leave Connect for Boost.
Edit: But I had to edit it from the desktop because, as I said the app is alpha but the dev is working actively on it to add more features. The dev is not the original from "Infinity for Reddit". But since it is open source a new dev picked up the development and started adapting it for Lemmy.
1 day ago it was not possible to add comments, now we can.
Voyager (formerly Wefwef). I'm still super excited to get Boost back in my life, but I'm so so impressed with just how functional and great feeling the Voyager team have been able to make a PWA.
