Everytime i replay, i have to let the Zeal theme play all the way through the first time it plays when Melchoir is explaining Redstone. Magus' theme, Frogs theme, Robos theme, Chronos theme... It's all so fucking good!
I just got my first job at the time, and the first thing I saved up for was a PS1 and Chrono Cross was the first game I purchased. I loved playing the SNES era of RPGs and was going nuts when I saw they were making a 2nd game. Sadly I don't remember it being nearly as good, but I would love to replay it someday to see what I remember. Those games made me the gamer I am today and still love them, if I can ever find the time to play them.
I talked my buddy into playing it on his emulator since he LOVED CT but had never tried CC. He couldn't keep playing, because he loved the music so much he had to learn how to play it all on acoustic guitar instead of play the game.
CT is such a masterpiece in so many aspects, and among them the music. He clearly didn't play the game, and yet he gets the general vibes right - the track played in 600 AD being "relaxing", Frog's theme being "epic", this sort of stuff. It shows that the composers were able to send the right vibes through the music.
(I can't blame him for getting excited with the track played in Zeal, Corridors of Time - it is gorgeous.)
