Why do people comment "Who else is listening in 2023?" on youtube... and why do people upvote that?

It's an asynchronous way to feel the social bond of listening to a song together.
- Also as a way to gauge new engagement on old content.
  
  You’ll often see the current year comment on a years old track…and the upvotes/replies are an indicator that it’s still “good” or otherwise is popular again, despite its age and lack of other recent comments.
