I was going to say we just found out Mr True's first name, but then I realised it's Everett. But then who is James...

"Hello good sir, my name is Everett True."
"Oh yeah? Then why does your wife call you James?"

Not to make excuses, but -- maybe James is his middle name. My grandpa went by his middle name amongst the people that were close to him; the only people that called him by his first name were either strangers, or his boss at work.
So I was super curious if this was a misprint or something else. Nope. According to the Seattle Star, on July 31, 1905, this is the comic they ran on the front page.
Also in my research, I found that the comic was called Chapters from the Career of Mr. Everett True until sometime between September 1905 and October 1905 when it became The Outbursts of Everett True. I have yet to pinpoint the exact date it changed.
I wish I had discovered these comics earlier, they are timeless
