You ever feel like you made a wrong turn somewhere, but now you've started on a career pathway, have a stupid fuck off hecs debt, can't afford therapy, and feel like it's too late to go back? That you're struggling with your job, don't have any real reference point as to whether it's normal, and just kinda wish you had another option?
I have a sample of Lancome moisturiser that's too rich for my skin, so I used it as hand cream since I'd run out out, and my hands feel lovely.
I looked this stuff up out of idle interest, with no intention of ever purchasing it:
It's $575. For a 60ml tub of moisturiser.
I'm horrified. Are there really people out there who pay that much just for moisturiser? When so many can barely afford food? I'm spiralling a bit. But wow.
Mine would be: Carrying 2 six packs of beer and a phone through 4 rooms, opening and closing 2 doors along the way, turning on and off 3 light switches and placing them safely in the fridge in 15 seconds flat without incident. I've had years of training.
Knocked the coffee on my desk over while on a work call, said "shit" very low as the other person was speaking but don't think they heard me. Had to frantically clean the spill up while talking as coffee was dripping onto my carpet. A fair amount went onto the carpet... I've got this carpet stain remover that I've never used before, hopefully it does the trick.
I've been lucky - I've worked from this carpeted room for years and the worse floor spill has been water.
Bloody hell, these courier please people have anger issues. I heard skidding tyre noises while I was in the shower, just chalked it up to an odd midday hoon. Whatever. Then a minute later I heard somebody absolutely pounding on the door, bloody dodgy, I didn't know who TF it was (my mind went straight to the old kid) so I got out of the shower and checked the camera, and a bloke in a high vis shirt was running away from the door. Then I get an email: "CourierPlease: we've successfully delivered your parcel"
Ran across the road, in front of a car, got beeped at by the person he ran in front of, then floored it just about the second he got in his little van. Wouldn't have even had enough time to put a seatbelt on. I suppose that's what happens when you put people on very strict quotas and treat them as glorified doordash drivers but for parcels, but it's fricking ridiculous!
Any suggestions for an easy option for "German food" that I could take as a plate for a morning tea at work? I'd like to make Bienenstitch but I don't know if I'll have time so want a backup option.
I emailed the regional manager yesterday to see what the updates were on the upgraded locks and the replacement of my things while the property and case managers are both away. Both updates were pretty much "there is no update" though. Both of them are both MIA today as well, and the property maintenance people at child protection are dragging their feet. But apparently they did approve getting a quote for installing security cameras around the property.
I'm a little concerned about the property manager to be honest, as when she takes an unplanned day off or sick day, she usually sends me a quick message to let me know she won't be able to attend anything we've organised, or she sets up an email auto responder thingy. But it's complete silence, she just didn't show up for a couple of things that we've had on. Not even a call from her boss to let me know nobody'll be coming. It's odd. I do hope she's okay
God damn it.. I'm actually liking using the iPhone. This is unacceptable.
Turns out they've come a long way in the 11 years since I used one. Face ID for auth inside apps (not just for unlocking the phone) is a game changer. Plus app devs have clearly put just a little more love into iOS apps then their Android counterparts. It's nothing major, just little things but they're noticeable. I also love the haptics. The screen and sound seem better too.
My 2 annoyances so far are that it's a regular iPhone 15 which feels a bit small in my bear-paw and I fumble with it and CarPlay (which does look excellent in my car) doesn't have the ability to have media controls on the screen at the same time as full screen Waze like Android Auto does. Having both on the screen at the same time uses way too much screen to show the media controls but that might because my screen is portrait rather than landscape. Probably looks fine in landscape on those wide screens you get in new cars.
Anyway ffs I wasn't supposed to almost prefer it over my Android phone.
I'm going to have to have a word with the MIL about taking the kids out during the day.
The point is to get them to sleep. One only slept when they got back, and the other didn't sleep at all and had a nap from 5-8, meaning I only got the two of them down now.
Not to mention driving all over Melbourne with them and getting toys they don't need from op shops. I'd be fine with that but they're always cheap remote control cars without the remote,so they don't work properly and are full of tiny parts if they ever break
I had to post a physical letter to the bank. I thought it would work ok because it is reply paid so I don't need to try to organise a stamp. But apprently I no longer own any envelopes. I had to utilise my craft skill and make my own envelope.
My earbuds have foam tips and they get dirty very easily. Soaked in dishwasher detergent, but kind of just want over ears now. Earbuds are good with glasses though.
Wellbeing and mindfulness riles me up when it gets mentioned at work because it generally isn't thought of and cared for and often at odds with people's actions no matter how much they scream they're looking out for people.
MWave just sent me an email to say that my order has been delayed and they don't know when they're going to send it out. But in any case, we've passed the next day cutoff now, so I won't be getting it this week.
I found another 12gb rtx 3060 (same graphics card but different brand) for 15 bucks cheaper at centrecom. I really want to go get a refund and just go pick up the other one myself from centrecom which is only a short drive away. I'd end up saving even more, because I wouldn't need to pay for transit insurance or delivery fees. But I get the vibe MWave are the type to hold onto every cent for as long as possible, so I imagine I probably wouldn't receive it for a month. I'm getting annoyed, because I'm sure that when I ordered it, it said it was in stock in their warehouse, and then after I ordered it they changed it to say it was in stock at their supplier. And evidently paying for express post from MWave doesn't make them pay for express post from their supplier.
Maybe I need to learn some patience, but they just haven't been very transparent in the whole process, and they charged me every type of fee they possibly could. Bank surcharge, card surcharge, shipping, postal insurance. I spent what's (for me) a lot of money. I'm actually pretty sure it's the most money I've personally spent in a single transaction ever. It's actually getting to the point where there's a little seed of doubt sown in my mind, and I'm wondering if they ever will post it, or if maybe I've gone and bought my graphics card from a fake MWave.
E: I realise I've been complaining about MWave a lot. I'll stop. Unless something's wrong with my order when it arrives again, I won't complain about them anymore. Also moved this one into a spoiler
