Not only propaganda. Also hierarchical thinking. People think of others (and other creatures) as less. Thats the core problem imo. We need to understand that. Autistics are not lesser than allistics. People with personality disorders arent lesser, political opposites are not lesser, etc. cooperation instead of competition.
Please don't say allistics, it's very silly. Like having a special word for people without heart murmurs. It's not about in-group versus out-group; autism and related developmental disorders are precisely that - developmental disorders.
Wait, you‘re starting with in group out group and end with pathologizing autism? That makes no sense.
Feel free to link sources but this is the first time I hear of this. Also dont pathologize NDs. We are not disordered, just different. Having pathological issues like learning disability or trouble speaking can be part of the experience but being ND isnt a pathology in itself. That is ableist imo.
It's absolutely pathological, I spent many years working with autistic children and once you pass the mildest of the mild cases of the-syndrome-formerly-known-as-Aspergers it completely prevents any semblance of autonomy or basic daily functioning. This attitude is a joke, I'm deadly serious. Legitimately severe autism and we're talking pre-verbal, may not ever learn to reliably use the toilet. Even moderate autism needs daily care attendance.
I have a neurodevelopmental disorder myself, I accept that side of myself but it definitely makes life challenging. I'm not ashamed of it, but it's not a source of pride either.
Again, feel free to ask how we see this and maybe learn to view differences as differences and challenges as challenges instead of pathologizing it all.
I for example have severe problems with being misunderstood due to my way of thinking. It is not that my thinking is pathological but the fact that others think different that makes life hard for me.
This has caused people to beat me up IRL and has made me millions with companies I created. Sure, you can choose to say „OMG autism!“ or you can say „Well, the person might need more help than others but might have unexpected qualities.“
Other challenges for me are low pain threshold, high frequency sound sensitivity, inability to voice dissent if stressed, very monotropistic.
But they can be managed. If we pathologize people for something as broad as autism, we wont integrate them into society ever.
Right, but this is all very mild autism you're talking about. Even moderate autism verges on pre-verbal, and none of them were really able to type or write. Most speech they did have was mimicking television shows, along with the accent. It's absolutely pathological and you certainly could not have a conversation with them about it as that was not a concept they understood.
Okay listen, I am willing to discuss with you but you need to stop making these unsupported claims. Either bring sources for them or stop.
There is no such thing as mild autism. Guessing from your writing style, you might have outdated experience/information and are putting stuff together that doesnt belong. There are many different challenges and differences that dont all have to be present. Most likely, you had the absolute worst cases but it is common knowledge that only the harshest cases have neen diagnosed for decades and in specific areas.
Not everyone who can wipe their own butt has apergers and not everyone who has autism is therefore unable to live their life without constant support. That is just false.
If you want to discuss you need to change your attitude to a more open minded approach so we can check where our experiences diverge. I‘m not going on in this „competition of witts“ that this is turning into.
I read your comment history and you usually seem quite levelheaded (except one very weird encounter). I therefore assume you might have deep seated hurt or presumtions (internalized ableism for example) which I dont fault you for but it would help you to get back to a discussion at the same level.
