In between my spikes of melancholy, isolation and loneliness I'm currently playing Tekken 8. The game can be extremely frustrating and unfair but I don't have anything else to play and I'm running out of money so I won't buy anything else this year. WWE 2k24 has been a disappointment this year, cyberpunk was a disappointment, stardew valley has been a disappointment. Warframe, another disappointment, that game feels that has no real direction or sense of progress.
Seems like modern games aren't good anymore (I guess stardew valley isn't new but whatever).
The only decent modern decent game I played this year is Re4remake...
I was planning of buying the new Spider-Man game, but after seeing the promotional material, it turned me off.
I feel like you gotta know what kind of games appeal to you. I'm also not into a whole lot of modern games but I got completely absorbed with Outer Wilds and Subnautica. Freely exploring a world with interesting mechanics while you try and uncover what is going on. Love it.
I also found I really enjoy Oxygen Not Included and Frostpunk. Something about making sure all my people are surviving and hopefully thriving really keeps me invested. And the little narrative things in those games are nice icing on top too.
So for games you like, like the RE 4 remake, what were the things you liked about it? Once you know what kind of things you enjoy in games it makes it easier to find more of that.
Majority yes, the gore, the action, the bow's, the sexy characters, the ridiculous one liners, the stupid buy memorable story, umbrella. Is like a tribute to an long gone era of Hollywood sci fi movies (except 7, that one kinda sucks).
Were you into DMC or Bayonetta? I love those games for similar reasons. Might be worth checking out if you're into hack and slash gameplay and you haven't tried them already.
I've spent so many hours on it, something about it makes time just slip away for me. But once I get to rockets I get overwhelmed and eventually just start a new colony
