  • I just had the opposite happen.

I needed to get an analog audio signal out from an old PS3, but it has an odd proprietary connector.

How a converter cable for that ended in my cable bin Ill never know, but the purpose of the bin has been vindicated for at least a decade.

  • I know exactly what you mean.

It's like sleep is trying to pull you in with whisps of itself like the enticing fingers of a lover. You act coy, trying to keep afloat because the boundary feels... Exquisite. The whisps become more demanding little by little until finally you succumb and let them take you in and it feels like floating though clouds of immaterial boobs.

    And then you are asleep.

  • I think it's a US thing.

I use 12h clock when context provides the am/ap variation, 24h otherwise. I have had americans tell me I sound militaristic when I tell them my flight lands at "seventeen fifteen ". I guess they are right, the NATO format for time uses 24h clock.

  • In Finland there is a party whose social feed was full of line items from the national budget they thought worth eliminating.

It's really the only time when I've seen someone really take a look at the budget and try to figure out how to save from the non-essentials instead of arguing about how much to spend on eg. Hospitals vs defence.

  • My wife pricked her finger on a sharp growth as we were entering an old warship at a depth of about 35 meters. I remember the dark green strands coming out of her vividly. It looked very alien, accentuated by the fact the bridge of the old ship was overgrown with sea life, yet it was somehow a distinctly human environment.

  • I love these stories, they make me happy.

You encountered a situation most would consider an inconvenience but which to you represents an external confirmation of your identity instead.

I guess you need a new passport though...
