  • holy shit I accidentally pointed at the monitor (touched it) with a 6 inch, thick, stick magnet in the 4th grade. got in trouble for "possibly damaging the computer" or whatever. I think the spot I touched the screen had some residual color change "damage" for some unremembered amount of time. I always felt stupid cuz how could I be so careless to point a magnet at a computer (I knew enough then to know that was a no-no). it's good to know I didn't actually fuck anything up (aside: changing memories of the past is time travel)

  • yes, that's an important caveat. we only know what earthy carbon-based life and its signs look like, with dimethyl sulfide and dimethyl disulfide being key signs because they're only made by living organisms on earth. looking for those chemicals is our best chance of identifying extraplanatery life because we dont know what the key identifers are for acarbon-based life. it could be that we have "found" life elsewhere but we just don't realize because it not something we're familiar with the data we get

  • do you know where someone could acquire those higher end products through other channels? some Chinese or other website selling quality products for cheaper than the brands but still for a profit for them?

  • I don't think Trump cares about much outside maintaining his social position (being upper class, not going to prison, having media attention).

the nefarious fucks behind him (Putin, Musk, Thiel, etc) are the ones who want take over the world and reshape it into a technofascist dystopia where they have total control

the end result is largely the same, but Trump is just along for the ride as a useful idiot

  • The Woman in Black with Daniel Radcliffe is absolutely terrifying. not jump scarey, just intense dread and horror as some of the scenes linger on.

the sequel was alright but couldn't quite match the intensity

  • it's an uncomfortable truth that sometimes people can be monsters unworthy of humanity.

fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. its a mythological story about the emergence of consciousness into humanity. came with it was the discovery of time and "the future", then the realization of vulnerability and the need to protect oneself, then the extrapolation that "if I can be hurt in xyz ways, I can make others hurt in those same ways". consciousness begot the potential for both great good and great evil.

people manifesting their evilness has been a problem since the very beginning. I think it helps to know that it's not a new, modern age problem. but we should still try our best to minimize it much as we can.

  • this is the unjust wedding of 'masculinity' and 'being served'. going down on your lady isn't manly because you're serving her and her pleasure, elevating her experience above thine

this also manifests in how a man topping another man is not seen nearly as bad as a man bottoming, despite them both being homosexual acts

I wish being a good servant was seen as masculine and sexy. I mean, isn't Jesus supposed to be like the perfect moral examplar? the guy defended, and washed the feet of, those socially considered beneath him. if only more men tried to actually model their behavior like Jesus, modern society would be in a much better place for everyone, religious and otherwise
