You might be right. I just couldn't think of anything else to put ahead of it without throwing shade at Lemmy's federated allies.

At this point, I think the only reason for the blue/green bubble distriction is to get iPhone users to bully their friends into buying iPhones.

iMessage, the texting app on iPhones, shows messages from other iMessage users in blue bubbles. All other messages, (i.e., Android, Windows Phone (RIP), and others), appear in green bubbles.

And, of course, it is (or will soon be) defederated by much of the Fediverse since we want nothing to do with Meta/Facebook.

And those 5% are probably most affected by the loss of third party apps and such.

Resistance is futile

Reddit has long been known for its userbase being capable of surprisingly big things. Getting John Oliver to AMA here might show that Lemmy is capable of the same thing.

He absolutely would be a great pick. And I suspect he would be interested. What I wonder is: how much would it grow Lemmy and the Fediverse? Impossible to tell, but even if it's only a small gain, I think it would be worth trying.
