  • Yeh, I know I would love opiates too which is why I have always avoided them recreationally and thankfully never needed them for pain otherwise I feel that is a hole I would fall into big time!

    I am thankful that I could still cycle pain free with my broken foot the first time. I broke the other foot this winter just gone and combined with shoulder problems I basically spent 3 months doing nothing but passing time indoors and it was honestly the darkest time I've had for a while with the seasonal depression on top of not being able to do any proper exercise based activities. Weed and LSD saved me from completely falling off that cliff getting my mind out of that ditch.

    Maybe now would be a good time to do some upper body challenges for yourself like building your pull up and push up game. Either way stay strong!

  • Injuries can be depressing as fuck when a lot of your life revolves around being active but at least you are getting some good drugs for free! XD

    I usually just alternate my training and shift into other things I can still do like for example when I broke my foot running I started doing a lot more cycling as I could do that without pain.

    Gotta keep that motivation up as you say though as it can get pretty depressing not being able to do what you love because of body issues, definitely worth while putting in some core work if you can without hurting yourself as core strength is beneficial for everything in your life!

  • I have had it switched on on my watch for over 5 years at this point. I record activities pretty much everyday which over the years has been a combination of both running and cycling. In that time I have probably has around 5 false positives, 3 of which I have notices and cancelled before it has sent messages to my family.

    I have had a couple of actual crashes in that time and it picked both of them up fine and sent messages as it should do, they were both on the bike. It has never detected any falls I have had whilst running however.

    My false positives have never been in the same place, so I keep it on as the couple of times I have had crashes it has worked as intended and although I was fine and able to walk away from them if I hadn't I believe it could be beneficial still.

  • It is more just the difference between UK English and US English, nothing wrong with using either of them this is just one of those things that I wasn't aware had a different spelling until today.

    It is like tyres - UK or tires - US. Tires looks wrong to me because I grew up using tyres but they are both valid spellings of the word.

  • Oh cool, thanks for the link. I'll be interested to try it but I'm skeptical it will be "high quality" until I try. Pretty sure SoundCloud only streams at 128 doesn't it?

    Either way I'll give it a try and get a spectral analyser on some files!

    Soulseek is great apart from the arseholes who lock their entire collections wanting people to basically pay them for access in the form of bandcamp vouchers or buying them specific releases to "trade" for what you want. Fuck those people.

  • Agreed, I don't have a problem with it as it has been announced in that I have no desire for AI stuff and as long as it doesn't affect my current experience people can knock themselves out with paying for that stuff. Sadly however I don't believe for a minute it won't creep into the basic experience like it did for strava for instance and slowly start eroding my experience unless I start paying a subscription. That I think is unacceptable but also seems par for the course these days and it is disgusting.

    What you've described doesn't sound too bad as long as you have buttons too. My hatred came from having one of their watches in the past where everything was controlled with the touchscreen and it was an absolute nightmare, particularly trying to end an activity after a long run when it is cold or raining or whatever and it just not responding was the most frustrating bullshit. I am a fan of buttons in general though and miss my physical keyboard on my phone etc.

  • As you said in you other comment OP this list of "what is wrong with Garmin" is basically a list of things that appeal to me and why I choose garmin over the other wank.

    I don't want 5g LTE bollocks, I don't want all these "smartwatch" features or deeper integration with a phone. I'm super disappointed about their move towards subscription models.

    I want a reliable watch that is good for tracking the sports I do, which it does. I like having buttons and not touchscreen wankery (I know some have touchscreens and I purposefully avoid those models).

    Honestly this article is a load of shit, why are people so insistent on everything being identical, more diverse options in every space not just watches is a good thing in my opinion. Not everything has to conform and be a cookie cutter of each other.

    You'd hate where I live then, surrounded by university students in a city where the bin lorry comes at fucking half 5 every morning. It fucking sucks and I miss the quietness of the countryside where I grew up!

  • I have reached out to UKF to see if it is them running the not and using their namesake and to ask them to sort it out.

    I will wait for a reasonable amount of time to see if I get a response, if not then I will consider other options based on how people feel about the bots.

    I personally don't want to see any bot posting but that is just my personal preference and realise that some people may want it, some people may just block bots in general and that they can help build the content on the community whilst there are less people posting.

  • These aren't bots run by the moderators of this community. They are bots that have been setup by UKF or whomever else.

    I have tried messaging them from my .world moderators account requesting the same thing as the way they have implemented them is messy resulting in horrible titles and inefficient linking, particularly when used with apps but I have had no response from the team that runs this bot.

    I don't want to be heavy handed in moderation and just straight ban the bot (despite my hatred for the way it is posting) however I also don't have the time to go through and edit every one of their posts properly.

    If it is annoying others as much as it annoys me then I can go ahead and reach out to them on a different platform where they may take notice?
