Why would you ever not need air support? Better question, was Marshall the "This looks like a job for Aquaman" character?

Natural gas can be greener than alternatives like oil and coal, but the people making fuck tons of money want to treat it like the destination rather than a step on the path of a much longer journey.

I think businesses are already seeing the effect of a lack of similar action. Young people are going out much less, drinking much less, spending less, and as described in this article, dancing less. There are a ton of other reasons for that (income inequality, inflation, political stressors, health and safety concerns, etc) but social media has had a deleterious effect on the economics of social gatherings.

And don't forget, that guy experienced a shit ton of bullying before the hive mind decided that he was worth protecting. Most viral video sensations don't get that second part out of their 15 minutes of fame. They just get the bullying and shame.

What a poorly written article, is what I thought before I realized this is the official press release from the federal government.

When I was young, the phrase "dance like nobody's watching" became popular. I remember thinking it was true, most of my anxiety about dancing was a fear of being judged by someone else. I'd see other people dance and think that they aren't doing anything special. They aren't dancing well or doing crazy moves. They are just jumping around and having a good time. "Jump Around" was like just one of five hit dance songs about jumping. But I resisted because I thought people would think my dancing looked silly. And they'd be right, I was and remain a terrible dancer. I'm awkward, arthritic, and lacking in coordination and rhythm.

But there was no social media. No cell phone cameras. No internet. If someone did get a picture or even a video, it might be months before a small select group of people saw it. Hell, even if your bad dancing somehow made the news, it would still only be seen by the regional viewers watching that evening.

Today, if you're a bad dancer, you could be filmed without your knowledge or permission, and become a viral sensation for millions of people to see.

If I were young today, there's no chance in hell I'd be out on the dance floor.

Bullshit. Governing is compromise, but politics is bullshit. I mean that in the literal sense. To get what you want politically, you have to push the overton window so that you can govern towards the middle. But the middle between reasonable and fascism is not a great place for governing anyone.

I'm with you completely, I'm just feeling grumpy today.

I mean, that's a really low bar. I like Pete, and I would certainly vote for him instead of just about anyone in any position of government. But I do think our standards have been lowered to the point where "not a nazi shitbag" is going to put him in the upper echelon.

I understand why he's a threat to them, I just don't understand their battle strategy. Everything they do to attack him elevates his profile and makes actual Democrats suspicious of the oligarchs.

Sure, but again, he's the mayor. He can't set financial policy for the banks of the world. NYC has a huge administrative budget, but it ends at the five boroughs. He can't be like "All UN delegates have to end all wars." He has authority over city administrative issues, and it looks like Trump is going to go after him personally.

Important things happen in his city, and that makes him the most powerful mayor in the country. But that's like being the tallest elementary school student. And the job is a career killer. The last NYC mayor to be elected to higher office was in 1869.

So some airlines gave Trump enough money to get special treatment.

So much god-damned attention on a fucking mayoral race. Sure, it's NYC, but he's still just the mayor. Like they could have just ignored him and sapped the energy from his win, and then primaried him when his term was up.

It's just further evidence that the Democratic leadership is entirely inept.

Very interesting history lesson there. The Communist Party of Greece had been banned in 1936, but these revolutionaries played a significant role in the Greek resistance to Nazi occupation. The guerillas stymied the invasion forces, and it's a source of civic pride among Greeks that even though Athens fell to invasion, Greece contributed to the Allied victory by making it a pyrrhic victory.

However, immediately after the war, the same guerillas were prosecuted as criminals, leading (among other things) to a Greek civil war which ended in victory for the monarchy. The same heroes were demonized by the government they helped restore to power.

Of course, there's way more to the story, and there are far more shades of gray than I've described here. But photos like this should serve as a reminder that history is truly written by the survivors, and then edited by the victors.

Alternative theory, the people pulling the strings are already in control, and Trump is the useful idiot who can be the bully/lightning rod for international ire.

I never understood people who hate on the RAW. Like, it's an open concept. Make it your own. Any changes can be done at the first session, and if you have an adjustment that's better, everyone will agree and it will catch on.

This has always been the far right endgame. They don't want people to rely on government, so they make government unreliable. Citizens become more exploitable, and thus more profitable.
