  • Cool ! I canโ€™t wait to not eat them because theyโ€™re still processed food ๐Ÿ˜‚

Seriously though, real cool news for people who are vegan for the animals but less so for their health (even if this is a lot less bad for your health than dairy cheese).

  • If you donโ€™t open by flirting then it shouldnโ€™t be a land mine at all. Also, be mindful of the context. Most people donโ€™t really want you to hit them up at the sidewalk, but itโ€™s probably okay at the park, as long as you donโ€™t shove your face close to mine right away ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Honestly, as a woman, I think itโ€™s more about knowing when itโ€™s appropriate to talk to people.

Itโ€™s okay if people hit me up at the park or the bar. Itโ€™s not okay when Iโ€™m doing my groceries in a hurry, or when Iโ€™m crossing the street ๐Ÿ˜† and if you get โ€œrejectedโ€ (sometimes itโ€™s not a hard rejection, my social schedule is just already full), just take it well and go talk to someone else.

I donโ€™t think this is rocket science, and apart from some teenagers whistling me from across the street (which I always pretend I canโ€™t hear), almost all adults get this right.

  • 66.6% of all traffic is blocked with no functional impact on anything that I do

    Okay. Iโ€™m convinced.

  • While this definitely is bad, I think people tend to be a bit unreasonable about this stuff.

Fiberglass is not asbestos, and by the way, asbestos is not uranium.

Do wear the proper PPE, yes, but also donโ€™t be neurotic about it. Even full-time asbestos miners donโ€™t always get related cancers. If you removed some without knowing, studies show youโ€™ll be fine. Your body can and does eliminate asbestos, albeit very slowly.

And again, fiberglass is not asbestos, and doesnโ€™t cause mesothelioma. Itโ€™s still not recommended to breathe it in, especially not on the regular, but you donโ€™t need to live in fear of it.

  • Iโ€™ll always remember when I accidentally bent a CPU pin and had to manually straighten it with pliersโ€ฆ it was terrifying ๐Ÿ˜ญ (but that CPU is still working perfectly in my computer 7 years later !)

  • I just checked, it boots in .5 seconds on my Steam Deck. So yeah, thereโ€™s a problem somewhere ๐Ÿ˜…

  • I agree with the general sentiment, though KDEโ€™s apps do have some real performance issues.

Dolphin sometimes takes 2-5 seconds to open on my gaming PC, whereas Nautilus (Gnome Files) is usually done before Iโ€™ve even let go of the click.

Maybe thatโ€™s just preloading, but it makes a bloody enormous difference in everyday usage.

    I prefer Plasma overall, though.

  • Is the hypothesis that Windows being constantly broken forces you to learn how to fix it ? Because thatโ€™s kinda what happened to me ๐Ÿ˜†

  • Can confirm Iโ€™m one of those people with JS off and a pretty strict whitelist !

  • Iโ€™ve been insulted by web developers for saying this before : โ€œIf your website doesnโ€™t work on Firefox, your website doesnโ€™t workโ€

  • I donโ€™t understand why we donโ€™t just all use UTC and just wake up at different hours depending on the country ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

  • Thinking back Iโ€™ve basically already been doing that โ€œaccidentallyโ€ by buying all my games second hand ๐Ÿ˜†

  • We can have both trees and this ! Letโ€™s replace the stupid ad spots on bus stops with these ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  • Liquid Trees

  • I donโ€™t think anythingโ€™s wrong with trees, but maybe we could also have some of these as well as trees ?

Replace the advertisements on bus stops with a really cool green liquid wall ๐Ÿ˜ฎ (but theyโ€™d have to make the glass super thick, these things tend to be vandalized from time to time)

  • Since thereโ€™s a mathematical proof that LLMs without hallucinations are impossible, I think this kind of usage is a lost cause.

  • The online interest was purely โ€œfreak-showโ€ type entertainment. No one had any interest in helping them.

I have much more compassion for Chris-Chan than for anyone who pointed and laughed. I agree with you, if someone was there to help, none of this would have happened.

  • It is pretty rare for my partners to date each other, so most breakups are usually โ€œnormalโ€œ. Even when they do, one breakup only concerns the two people involved, unless something really bad prompted it, which has never happened to me directly.
