Pretty sure your answer is going to be no. The ONLY way to do this would be a horn or speaker system pointed forward like you mentioned which would have to be speed controlled, otherwise it would just be a constant siren of sorts. That being impractical and likely not well sought after, I dont think anything exists. Like other commenters have already said, scooters and such quiet, small displacement bikes dont have any noise enhancement and have never needed it- BUT they are primarily used in slower-speed city-type traffic, not out on higher speed highways and interstates (regardless of the actual speed of traffic flow when lane splitting is utilized).

I understand your concern, though. I used to commute daily on 2 wheels in the Bay Area on highways and on I-80 and people definitely could hear me and would move over when they could, and my bike isnt even “loud”- just a 900cc Triumph. Sometimes they wouldnt realize they were on the center line blocking progress and you could blip the throttle and then they’d notice and move over- something you wont be able to do on an electric bike, short of just beeping the horn i guess. It was a nice, reassuring feeling that you knew that THEY knew you were there. Not to mention i’ve been in a cage plenty of times and heard motorcycles well before ive seen them, so again…noise is justified.

Well said! I read the books long before the first movie, and have seen all the screen adaptations, and pretty much agree with you. Hell, my 12 year old Border Collie is named Lyra! However, I actually mostly enjoyed HBOs TV series, even with all the changes and such, which i was expecting because it was a screen adaptation. Didn’t much care for the new characters, but i was able to get over it because of all the other parts that were well done. They did a great job appropriately making you dislike Ms. Coulter! I forgot all about the newer books, though! Thanks for the reminder!

French car culture isnt much different than European car culture in general, for the sake of the topic here. Small displacement engines (1.6, or 2.0 liter usually) and small footprint because of space. Scooters and pedal bikes are super common around places like Paris, tho…parking, gas, weaving through the congestion, etc. However, some of the wagon variants of cars and these luxury cars you mention sometimes have a much larger footprint than small and mid-sized SUVs. Unless overhead clearance is an issue, like in parking garages, i don’t quite understand the reason for singling out SUVs here.

This, of course, is all stated with European sized SUVs in mind that share the same small displacement engines as other cars. Not the giant American sized ones that have much larger engines where emissions issues now come into play. However, all those luxury cars usually have even bigger engines and sometimes the loud exhaust as well…sooo…🤷

Ya, it’d be doable for sure with the craze of all the overland van-dweller builds the last few years. Ive seen plenty that meet all your requirements. But, whether it would be cost-effective or not for a work van would be the major issue, especially considering most trucks can do all that without being a special order for probably less than half the price.

Years ago i was in a spot where i needed the same as you for basically all the same reasons. The old van kept getting stuck everywhere, and then it actually got rolled from hitting a patch of black ice one winter, so it was totaled. These high-top vans had just started coming to market which was great, but I couldn’t convince the boss to spend the extra money for at least an AWD version, nevermind the higher ground clearance or low-torque options. I still got that thing stuck so many times…having a high-top I could stand up in was nice though.

There are, not sure what your qualifications for a “risen van” are, but Ford Transits and Mercedes Sprinters have an AWD variant. Dodge has had 4wd panel vans since the 90s, not sure if they still are, tho. There’s probably other makes out there, but that’s what I know off the top of my head. I think there’s also aftermarket companies that can mod vans into 4wd, but that’s getting a little crazy for just a basic work van.

Lol, i’ll take that! I even live in Crazy Exact Time and still messed this up! I’m just so used to games’ update or maintenance schedules usually being on various US time zones that i guess when i read that i just defaulted to remembering the wrong one…furthered by the fact i’d likely still have to wait another day or two for mods to be updated before i could download it anyways.

Yup, in my comment i meant Central time zone in the US (CST), where it is 9:30am there right now. However, i was wrong and the release time was 12pm Central European (CET), i was remembering the incorrect time Zone!

Those touch mechanics are things you don’t need on any other platform as opposed to literally the only option via mobile. Games as shallow as Fruit Ninja, seriously? You ever pay a Nintendo Wii? Or any of the Xbox Kinect type motion tracking games (i dont remember the Playstation variant)? That’s a hell of a lot more immersive than twitching your finger on your phone. Lets not even get into the world of VR gaming that’s been around for years now.

Multi finger gestures- like an entire PC keyboard…while moving your mouse? Can you use 10 fingers on your phone at the same time? Or multi button/direction combos on a controller? Plus the fact you can program multi-function macros on a PC.

Pinch zoom- mouse wheel: faster, more control, & way more range.

Swipe- like move your mouse? Or a controller joystick? Or the arrow keys? RTS or any top-down games have been using “swipe” variants to move around maps basically as long as the game genre has existed. Most mice come standard these days with thumb buttons that are pre-programmed as literally Forward and Backwards buttons (think page turn, or swipe left/right). Even the mechanic of hotkeys that most games have.

Add in the ability to right-click, or hold any button and click and you open literally endless opportunities for any sort of “finger” or “swipe” type control. A PC mouse is literally your hand with a LOT more fingers.

But lets go deeper…there ARE touch interfaces for other platforms. Not used much for gaming, but how do you think digital artists draw and paint?

Basically, these touch gestures you’re so hung up on are literally all you have- and it ain’t much. Anything else i could add has been said multiple times from all the other comments….

Oh, right, didnt think about it trying to roll when replacing the cups. Maybe try a make-shift wheel chock with some towels or wood wedge, really anything you could jam under the other wheels.

Are you sure the wheels will even damage the floor? Is this a stage, like normal black stage deck? If so, you’ll be fine. If not, and the hardwood is like a really nice finish or dents/scratches easily then there’s likely to be a risk. How was the piano brought in?

I didnt think to ask if the castors were plastic or metal? If they are plastic, you’ll be good. I was thinking about the wide metal castors ive seen a lot. If they are metal, unfortunately i dont have any perfect answers- you’ll have to get creative, i guess. Cardboard, scrap carpet pieces, basically anything to buffer under the castor. But nothing you’d want to reuse ‘cause the castors might damage your makeshift padding.

Technically yes, if you can lift each corner of the piano high enough AND kick the cup out all by yourself. Lift with your legs, not your back!

The real challenge would be reversing this operation- lift and sliding cup back in place with a foot. I worked for a piano shop long ago and this was basically the same method we would use even to completely remove legs to tilt them up onto the sleds to put on trucks. I think we could do it with just 2 people. Also make sure the castors wont damage the floor…pianos aint light, and those metal castors arent forgiving!

Unfortunately negative reactions to different brands exists, though. So, not everyone gets a choice. Fortunately for us, Huggies is what gave my daughter rashes. So that was an easy out!

It’s a bit of a far fetch, and I might be a bit off here. (I know a better fan than me will probably correct me) But I seem to remember the Death Metal band Deicide wrote a lot of their songs about inconsistencies and hypocrisies in the bible. Albeit, mostly christian-bashing, if you will. So probably too far in that direction than what you’re looking for. They usually come across as a Satanic and/or gore theme driven, and while the gore is accurate, they have stated many times to not believe in satan either. …And of course you have to be able to enjoy the sounds of hardcore death metal as well, lol

Yeah…that’s why I switched from FF to Chrome a few years ago. I was tired of whatever extension it was that i needed or wanted at the time being only on Chrome. Of course, i’m back on FF now and it seems to be much better for what i need, so that’s good.

Yup, that would absolutely stress my dog out. She’s always stressed enough at the vet, but she isn’t very social with other dogs so this would just escalate things even more. She much prefers to just be ignored by other dogs and people she doesn’t know yet.

AFAIK, Batteries in pokemon cartridges were only for the in-game clock, not the actual save files! So he is not safe!

Edit: i stand corrected! Ive never had or worked with pokemon carts specifically, but i have worked with & modded a lot of GB, GBA and N64 carts and not all of them have batteries, in fact most dont. I know n64 mempaks do, tho, but almost none of the carts. Info i had gathered from the various retro communities led me to believe that GB/GBA pokemon carts were a type that didnt need a battery for the save file, only the clock, but apparently that isnt always the case!

Okay, i’ll bite and try to answer these. Without knowing any details of which chain and where exactly this station is located (in a city/town or right off a motorway/interstate?)

A lot of “truck stop” type stations are this big to accommodate large vehicles and potential larger trailers they might be towing. Like a 3/4ton pickup with a huge 5th wheel trailer. Or even Class A/C motorhomes and RVs. These pumps likely have diesel and petrol so even large box trucks will pull in the fuel up. There are usually different areas for full tractor-trailer (lorries) but those pumps are for those trucks only. Further, the gap is three vehicles wide so a vehicle can be on a pump on either side and someone arriving or leaving can fit between them- especially if there is a case of 3 pumps in a row.

Pizza for breakfast? Judging by the picture and the title, this looks like actual Breakfast Pizza. Eggs, sausage, etc are the toppings. Had this a lot growing up just at home. And pizza style is common “grab and go” type food from gas stations since it’s easy to eat, even while driving.

Now, a cola with/for breakfast…naah. I’m with you there. That’s a bit off. But otherwise, the size is normal for a truck stop. Fountain drinks are a lot cheaper than canned or bottled of the same drink. For example 24oz bottle for $2-3 or a 48-64oz fountain for the same price or less. People are traveling when they come through here, or stopping by to grab stuff on their way to work for the whole day. So the idea is the drink is to have on hand for hours if not most of the day. The styrofoam cups are junk but a lot of people transfer to a more practical container, or some stations chains would sell their own fancy insulated cups and allow discounted refills in their cup.

How is this so cheap? Gas station food, man! Doesn’t mean it’s any good! I just covered the soda portion for pricing and a slice of pizza (breakfast or normal pepperoni) is usually only like $2. So the pricing advertised here makes sense.

Midwest is a kind of marketing thing with many layers or points. The midwest region of the States is the massive, wide-open middle section where there’s usually cattle ranching, farming and a lot of nothing. So this can be spun in a lot of ways- farmers/ranchers allegedly eat big (unhealthy) food and drinks, the midwest is big, things are cheap because nothing and no one is out there, etc. Also this gas station is likely located in the midwest and targeted towards people that are traveling through, so it’s got that “tourist” hook to it.
