IIHS lists a rotating list of safest used cars for teens.
I had a 2015 golf and 2018 GTI. The gti was hands down my favorite vehicle I ever owned. That being said I did not get a MK8 when it got totaled.
I went with a Mazda3 awd turbo. Reason being physical buttons. I could not comfortably use the controls on all the test drives I did and the infotainment was terrible. Mazda has the superior infotainment of the two.
The golf r is literally just a budget Audi. All the parts are stamped Audi because it’s an MQB Evo platform. They’re all the same.
I wouldn’t say Vw isn’t quality, but I could not justify the expense. I paid less for a 2024 turbo premium plus awd Mazda than the dealer was asking for an SE GTI.
It’s going to make heavy based melee builds much less annoying.
My bad. It just seems like the low hanging fruit everyone plays off of.
We actually used to get vehicles close to this size. The Suzuki samurai (really a jimny) was sold here for a number of years. Geo sold a fair number of almost kei cars that Suzuki made.
I’m a fan of limiting them from interstate highways, but keeping them registrable. It’s just dumb they cite “safety” even though the law explicitly calls out they aren’t required to be safe. I just want a nice 25-45 mph city truck to lug dirty junk around.
But if anyone is curious, Douglas deBoard imported so many European cars in the 80’s that cut into the profits of Mercedes USA enough that they pushed the law through. Buying them in Europe and importing them was actually cheaper (in some aspects) than buying a US market one. And the imported cars were better equipped!
It wasn’t even about protecting American manufacturers or trucks. Mercedes has just always been a huge dick.
Doing comparisons like these don’t make sense when motorcycles and trikes exist.
Fear mongering.
T-Mobile never intended to use Sprints infrastructure. They wanted the rights to their 5g midrange spectrum. As a previous sprint user, post acquisition I lost signal everywhere in my county because t mobile isn’t there. Had to switch to Verizon as AT&T had zero coverage too.
The coverage maps say there is coverage, but there isn’t. Hell, even Verizon is spotty there but it’s better than it was on the other two.
This isn’t really up for debate. It’s legal to import anything 25 years or older under Federal law. They don’t have to comply with regulations outside of maybe smog. And even then if you import anything 1974 and older you don’t even have to smog that in California.
I could maybe see an argument where they shouldn’t be allowed on roads above 70mph since most kei cars aren’t capable of that, and those that are run such high rpm’s it’s just not practical.
Yea their whole argument is baseless. They’re essentially saying that they have pedestrian safety figured out and not the countries that have the most walkable cities? Wild.
The DMV has zero bearing on vehicle safety. They’re only denying and trying to revoke legally issued registrations. So your makeshift argument is moot. You’re trying to say the registrable F150 is more pedestrian safe than a Daihatsu Hi-Jet……..which is definitely not the case. It’s quite the opposite.
Not to mention they’re making golf carts road legal which don’t even have seat belts or any other crash verified safety equipment.
These reports have been around for years.
If that argument held any water they’d ban motorcycles too.
This is exactly what happened with the motherboard fiasco last time. Spoiler, nothing changed.
Scale for these is sometimes hard to give in pictures. Their use case is also important, as generally, you’re not typing a novel with these.
I would assume the latter until proven otherwise. No doubt they hide that.
This is pretty spot on. And in order to get the summer tire rated performance, you’ll need to have the tire properly warmed up. You get close to advertised with UHP All seasons from cold or hot and everything in between. Once it gets below freezing it’s not such a high performing category, but unless you’re dealing with ice and snowfall it’ll outperform winter tires on asphalt or any paved surface really. Not to mention they’ll generally wear much better and be way quieter.
2nd and Charles if you have one near you. Also Book Exchange. But those are very location specific.
According to my iPhones privacy viewer it’s almost worse than Facebook.
I used to routinely use 100gb of data on my jailbroken sprint iPhone. Did that for almost 3 years. Never heard a peep from them. But this was forever ago.
10ish years ago it was pretty good. Somewhere around 2015 I noticed the size and quality of some items take a massive dive.
Volkswagen’s famous GTI hot-hatch performance car is moving to all-electric power, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be a GTI.

This was possibly a stock car at some point, I can’t dig up much information other than the fact that it may not have been raced and was just meant to look the part.

I always thought these would be really cool with something like a 7mgte swap. Or really any inline 6.
Even a naturally aspirated 2jz, although both might be a bit on the heavy side.

Taken not too long after they discontinued the speed 3. There were a couple more out front that aren’t pictured.

Not sure why it’s missing off the page though 🤷♂️.

Last year I went to the Mustang Owners museum in North Carolina. All of the mustangs there are either the museum owners personal stock, or lent by mustang owners around the US. Stock changes every 6 months or so and they even have one of the oldest (by VIN that weren’t showcase preproduction) mustangs as a “barn find”. !
The people that run it are obviously knowledgeable and were a blast to talk to. When I went they mentioned that they were trying to acquire the full scale clay S550 model. It’s possible that it would have been the one that was used in the documentary “A Faster Horse”.

1990 eclipse gsx. Had an upgraded TD05(H?)turbo, spiral header (ugh), and upgraded 12v fuel system. Made really decent power even though the power and was meh. Had it about 3 months before I made the executive decision to sell it before I killed myself.
Had a full 3” turbo back from magnaflow that was loud as hell.
Bought it in 2012 for $1200 with 143,xxx miles on it. If I had it today I probably would have kept it. The interior was immaculate except for a couple cracks on the dash.

I like trying to find quirky cars in the US. A few years ago I found an AZ-1 at Heavy Seas in Maryland. Super cool car, and the owner was 6’4”. It wasn’t his daily but he did say he drove it on several trips to North Carolina.
He said they were all terrifying haha.
