AI influencer bots: my sexy robot is just too horny
  • So, uhh, why not just let the bots be sexy? Because kids can use them/age verification?

Because her bot was based on her? For $70K a week change the name of the bot to Shirley and let the cash roll in, what's the problem?

Is it because the AI model isn't supposed to be sexy? Find one that is, you've already got your market share and you don't have to do anything.

  • Thirsty Melon
  • I didn't know watermelon could do this. Who... Who buys watermelon and forgets it??? How does watermelon last longer than 4 days... At best?

It's watermelon! You buy it because you want to eat it now.

  • Unfortunately I use Photoshop pretty heavily. I'm trying to split my different use-cases of Photoshop into different applications.

I tried Krita, and was immediately put off by how you have to input text in a different window, and can't see it live. GIMP's UI feels so different.

I'll add rawtherapee and darktable to my list to try, and I'm still giving Krita and gimp a chance. You can't expect to just slide right into a new program in a day after spending a decade in something else.

  • I wish, but what are the end users going to do? Switch?

Apple is expensive, and all Linux users will eventually have to use a command line. Sure, if you're on lemmy you're probably fine with the occasional terminal window, but most older folks aren't, and many in the younger generation aren't familiar with any os that doesn't come on a mobile device.

Power users have an alternative in Linux, but most will just shrug and accept it. Who has time to learn how to use and install a new OS? Ads are everywhere, it's become ewww the norm.

    ewww...

Fwiw, it may be arguably easier for you to switch than to have to run a debloater script after every Windows update, at this point.

  • I took the plunge about a week ago with Pop!_OS. It took a good 3 or 4 days before I started to feel really comfortable with things. (Which is probably because I'm really picky)

If you have the time to try it out (and remember, always dual boot so you have a fall back and can switch back when you need to) I recommend it. The last remnant remaining for me is Photoshop, and there's a GitHub page for downloading it with very few steps now.

Pride Month PSA: Y'all really need to knock this off
  • I'm embarrassed to say, that since I've only ever heard "cis" when in reference to sight people, I thought cis just meant straight.

I've done looked it up and now understand what it really means. In my previous comment, mentally replace "cis" with "straight" to get what I meant.

  • But cis outnumber non-cis by a great margin. When cis women go to gay bars to avoid straight men hitting on them, isn't it bothersome to the lesbians who now have to filter out the straight women from the potential flirting pool?

I would say, that if straight women ended up flocking to gay bars, then gay bars would start looking attractive to hostile straight men, but I don't think hostile straight men would feel comfortable in a gay bar, at least not until the atmosphere had gotten very straight.

I feel like OP is arguing that this is a slippery slope (more straights in gay bars eventually fizzles out the gay bar), and most of the opposition is arguing that it is not (I can invite a friend now and then and the gay bar is still a gay bar.)

  • what's some stuff that costs around 1$ that you would recommend?
  • A few things you could probably get for $1, but would be better if bought in bulk:

A permanent marker, a package of labels. Combined, you can reuse your Amazon boxes as storage boxes. Labels aren't necessary, but black text on a white background is easier to read from a distance.

Box cutter knife/utility knife. Can be used to cut holes in Amazon boxes for pets to play in. Or, simply keep them but the front door so you can open packages right away.

Hook-and-loop (Velcro) ties for wires. Can be used to tidy up the wires behind your desk, or for charging cables when traveling.

Dish soap (without degreaser)/baby shampoo. Aside from their original purposes, these can both be used to clean glass before applying a permanent tint (or just to clean glass normally) or to wash your car (degreasers can wear away at your clear coat over time.) Both can be found at the dollar store.

Colgate regular toothpaste. (If you don't have tooth sensitivity) You don't need colgate total. You should still use an electric toothbrush. You should not use the cheap off-brand toothpaste. You should also floss.

Jellyfin/Subsonic/Plex Server If you have a digital library (movies, shows, music) and an old computer/laptop/raspberry pi, you can put one of these three programs on it and host your own, personal, Netflix/Spotify for free with no ads. You only need to pay for electricity. You need to learn a bit to set it all up, but once it's done it's very set-and-forget. You'll also need to buy or find your new media online (or rip it from a disk), which can be a big change for some.

Something else that has a low barrier to entry: origami. Learn how to make a square from any sheet of paper, then learn how to make the traditional paper crane. All you need is any piece of paper and scissors (to cut it into a square). If you enjoy making the crane, there's an endless amount of models to fold. The craft has exponentially taken off in the last few decades, just do a little searching.
