  • Is it exposed to the internet?

Mine is local only so I’m not as diligent with updates. I push them like once every 2-3 weeks. Some containers automatically update but some don’t because in the past that has broken associated scripts

  • Improves data tracking and increases the odds they can sell you services, which is money they love because it’s consistent and predictable income.

Also means you get drawn into their “ecosystem” and the deeper you get into it the harder it is to move to a competitors. If you have $4,000 worth of iphone apps and in app purchases it’s much harder to switch to android. You can migrate bookmarks, password databases, calendars, message histories (not imessage lmao), etc but you can’t migrate proprietary apps and services

big tech has been anti consumer for decades and while apple is a big issue now 90s and early 2000s microsoft was the driving force in making sure open standards and interoperability was quashed at every opportunity. US government had endless chances to regulate the industry but incompetent politicians did nothing because they were completely ignorant and corrupt (shocker)

  • There’s no conclusive evidence that giving blood lowers serum levels of microplastics. It may based on the assumption of seeing microplastics in donated blood but there’s not direct evidence yet that this lowers serum levels. Whether it would impact brain levels is also unknown as a result

There is conclusive evidence that donating blood does accelerate the removal of “forever chemicals” like PFAS though, in some cases fairly significantly (up to 10% blood level reduction and 30% serum reduction). Plus donating blood is nice

  • This got me intrigued so I looked it up a bit. Population reference bureau estimates there have been 117 billion humans ever. a rough estimate would place 80-85 billion of them from 0-2025 (when Abrahamic religions came about) thanks to explosive population growth

Granted this is all reallllly rough estimates but I still say it’s many more than a billion at this point. However as you said selecting for Christians is a big factor.

Over the years Christianity evolved from a niche to the largest religion in the world (though Islam is poised to overtake it)

    100: ~7 million (about 1% of world population) 500: ~30 million (10%) 1000: ~50 million (10-12%) 1500: ~100 million (15-20%) 1900: ~560 million (35%) 2000: ~2 billion (33%) 2025: ~2.4 billion (31%)

So historically we can estimate the total number Christians who have died is about 23 billion based on 80-85 billion total born and roughly 25-30% historically, giving us roughly 25 billion born (2 billion remain alive as seen above).

That said this is based on wild estimates and is obviously not accurate in any meaningful way. I’m just bored and I have to watch my sick dog so I’m giving myself math homework

  • Keep in mind that visa means you still need to self fund health care and in many countries like Canada and Australia if you are disabled you can be denied permanent residency for being a cost burden on their healthcare system.

Research where you go if you are disabled and leaving, especially if you’re leaving with permanent residency in mind

  • Should work. Are you using merged, split, non merged? I’m not really familiar with openemu and just looked at a basic guide really fast. Does version match matter with openemu? I assume so. It def can with mame and you want to ensure your rom and bios came from the proper version set (typically most recent which iirc is 0.274) though tbf this probably doesn’t impact a game like metal slug unless your rom is ancient, which is possible if you got it from a rom site

Note that if you do get them to run they run poorly. Mame emulates them accurately but they ran poorly on the original hardware. The frame rate counter will read 100% but it will be choppy. This is accurate behavior. You can overclock the emulated cpu which sometimes fixes this but also sometimes breaks the game

  • Is it teflon coated? If so you should be careful. Many of the suggestions here are for increasingly abrasive options which will scratch that coating and cause it to eventually flake off, which means it will get into your food, which definitely not something you want to eat

On one hand the grease itself is probably not a food safety issue anymore. Similar to a cast iron pan once oil/grease heats enough on a surface it polymerizes and essentially bonds to the surface. This is generally safe unless the oil is exposed to very high temps (beyond what is typically used for cooking) but it looks bad on stuff like sheet pans

However you do want to be a bit more diligent cleaning as a result. Unlike a cast iron pan where the polymerization layer (seasoning) is generally very smooth this is generally not; it is bumpy and has more nooks and crannies. This means there are more areas where filth and bacteria can be harbored. Not a huge issue, just make sure you clean well.

  • While others have pointed out it definitely can it also contains lecithin so it can technically create emulsions like mayonnaise and hollandaise

Eggs contain far more so I don’t know how well this would work but it should? It also contains albumin and globulins but in the white, which is traditionally not used for these. However they can further stabilize the emulsion. But blood also as fibrinogen which is part of what makes it gel when heated as part of coagulation and this would impact texture

    Essentially like:

1 part blood 3-4 parts neutral oil Tsp vinegar or lemon juice Tsp Dijon Season to taste

    Prepare the same as mayo

You could also boost lecithin content with additional lecithin from soy or sunflowers but that’s kind of against the spirit

I personally am vegan but find the food science of this interesting. I think eating animals is cruel but at the same time I would be interested to know if this actually could work or if you ended up with blood vinaigrette.

  • Well that certainly boosts my ego, thanks

Wrt pain response it varies. Some people do describe actually “feeling” the pain of others, read on “empathetic distress” for more on this. It’s less common but is interesting; in some people when they empathize with someone experiencing something like physical pain there is activation of areas of the brain that process physical pain (insula and anterior cingulate cortex) in addition to showing physiological response consistent with pain (tachycardia, perspiration, wincing, etc)

It could be performative but the neurological activation can’t really be faked and the physiological responses can be challenging to fake. Additionally there is variability in response and behavioral indicators like attempting to render aid which are somewhat inconsistent with performative acts (though not definitively so)

  • This makes sense. Experiential understanding

But to clarify the logic doesn’t need to be super high level. “High level” in my post just meaning it’s a higher level process oriented to using logic at all, versus something more akin to a “going with your gut”, if that makes sense?

I do hope you can find people who will empathize with you in ways that are not so transactional though. Maybe that’s not possible. Life is give and take I suppose. Maybe instead it’s about finding people who have the right balance of that? I dunno but at a minimum you deserve to have people care about your frustration, at least sometimes.

  • Depends on how you define hallucination

Misremembering details, false assumptions about what is said, assuming intentionality incorrectly, projection of emotions onto others, bias, etc mean that the same words are said but we walk away with potentially wildly different interpretations of the experience

“Getting on the same page” is a challenge

  • I agree but to clarify:

Autistic people do not inherently develop post conventional morality and the j6 types are not presented here as a counter to “autism” but as a counter to “post conventional morality”

There are many autistic people who are stuck in the early more stages focused on discipline and punishment. Many neurotypical ppl as well. These people are extremely susceptible to fascism because it appeals to simplistic morals based on “things need to go my way and if they don’t you need to get severe punishment”.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Kohlberg's_stages_of_moral_development

_These people would literally be in the first stage of the Heinz dilemma

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_dilemma

Kohlbergs stages have valid criticisms (like they ignore the entire concept of collectivist cultures, for one) but they’re still a decent framework

  • Yeesh.

But herein lies the problem. They post a sentence and a misleading graph, people eat that shit up. They have an audience of millions and media outlets will amplify it to more, maybe tens of millions even. Easy to digest

I can tear it apart, others can too. Easy, but wordy. I am very bad at doing this succinctly (my post history is clear evidence of this ha). I am sure someone else can do a much better job of doing this concisely BUT:

It almost inherently won’t be concise enough to be as digestible as theirs. It will be a paragraph, a few sentences. There will be more to it.

It will be inherently harder to understand. There will be more steps involved in processing the information. You have to understand what they presented, understand the flaw, and then evaluate whether the flaw is valid

The person posting a reaction is almost certainly not going to have the initial reach of musk amplified by the tech bro and gop propaganda sphere

Per above it is inherently reactionary. Their info has settled in people’s minds as valid and legitimate before yours can even come into play.

  • Even if they do post at work, so the fuck what? Do they not have downtime? Are they not allowed to spend said downtime as they please?

This is propaganda. “See how lazy these workers are? They USE THE INTERNET AT WORK!” Posted by a billionaire that tweets 900 times a day.

It’s totally okay when he goes on websites to post memes but when you do it you’re a lazy piece of shit because worker scum should be giving 100% efficiency. No breaks, no cellphone usage, no chairs, fuck you wage slave

Plus as others have said this is almost certainly edited and misleading:

First off what did weekends and holidays dwarf this? Are they purposely excluding them to make this seem worse?

Secondly what the fuck is that y axis scale? 30,000 posts per day? Bullshit. Reddit has no api access to make this easy to figure out (so how did they get this data??) The front page of r/fednews doesn’t have a metric that would go that high aside from upvotes, maybe. They do get some posts with 1-3k comments but most have like 20. Upvotes make more way more sense

That’s where we get to the point of purposefully misleading. I haven’t used reddit for years but when I did I was on a community for psychotherapists. It’s one of the things I miss about reddit actually because to post there you had to subscribe and message the mods with proof of your licensure or enrollment in a program and then were flaired appropriately. This helped immensely with “armchair psychologists” invading our professional space, which is a genuine problem elsewhere

I mention that because it does not appear fednews has any similar policy, meaning anyone with an account can post, comment, upvote, etc. The overwhelming majority of this data is likely not federal employees given Reddits prominence in online discourse and the current focus on federal government employees

At a minimum they realized this is data that can be easily used to mislead, at worst they pumped the numbers with bots to push their narrative

Similar to the RFK anti vax “data” that was easily dissected bullshit yesterday. The gop has been good at misleading data for years (so have dems but the gop are far more shameless) but now they have big tech on their side. This is absolutely terrifying because tech giants are going to be much better at making this subtle and outright manipulation so that the data appears valid (see the potential for botting above if the scale is upvote based)
