  • Japan got it right - their appliances play a little song instead of beeping.

  • I read the journals of Lewis and Clark a couple years ago. It was fucked up reading about Sacagawea's emotional reunion with her brother, now the chief of her old tribe, immediately followed by Lewis talking to the chief about how great things will be for the tribe when they open up trade with the US.

  • No, but I read this book as a kid:

  • Kanopy is a good one, great way to watch free movies. Lots of classics as well as some newer stuff.

  • I had some ideas I jotted down but never really put anything together. Maybe someday...

  • I'm not familiar with Quora or other specific alternatives - when I said Lemmy is the biggest alternative, that's just based on what I've heard elsewhere, such as the "Reddit Alternatives" subreddit.

I can't say I've experienced anything as bad as that kind of harassment - sorry to hear that. One thing you could consider is making a new account on beehaw.org - it's Lemmy as well but with the goal of a safe, friendly environment, and they do a lot of deferating and moderation to keep it that way. So it would be a "smaller" Lemmy experience, but maybe a more pleasant one.

  • The midichlorian is the light saber of the cell.

  • As far as I know, Lemmy/Piefed/Mbin is the biggest alternative to Reddit, so if it's too small for you, there may not be a good alternative.

If you do want to stick it out, I'd recommend being liberal with blocking users you don't want to see. I think there are a lot of good people here.

  • Sounds like the name of a Star Wars character.

  • They'll add an exception for gold phones or something.

  • The Trump business' press release about the phone purports that the device, The T1, is "designed and built in the United States." The report noted that Apple has a similarly ambiguous claim, "Designed by Apple in California." In Apple's case, however, it has a disclaimer saying that the phones are assembled in India or China.

How is that "similarly ambiguous"? Neither phone was built in the US; only the Trump phone creators lied and said it was.
