  • A lot of people's justifications for not liking threads being part of the fediverse was because they didn't like the idea of the fediverse becoming mainstream.

  • The best you could ever get I think would be "local" split screen multiplayer by using multiple desktop pcs and then combining the views

  • They do do newer OS versions though right? Or am I thinking of something else

  • You have a not too old flagship device, many people look to install a custom ROM on a phone that doesn't get security updates anymore to extend it's life so that effect will be felt a lot more

  • Americans don't have to make a US variant of every community though regardless of if the person who created it was from the US or if the topic even relates to the US at all

  • Are you thinking of the a/b test from a while back?

  • I think YouTube could stop adblockers and ytdlp easy if they actually wanted it

  • This one turned out to be the adblockers fault not YouTube. I think YouTube could end adblockers on their site in a day if they wanted to. I think their whole thing with the popups is more about adding FUD than actually blocking their use

  • Upvote my comment and I'll upvote yours

  • I don't think they'd be too pleased, directing OP to a community about language learning is like directing someone interested in a brick throwing competition to a masonry community

  • But do you actually gain any ability to read and write the language outside of duolingo

  • Pihole is great for blocking on things that you can't install a local adblocker on. It does have downsides though, it can be annoying and block things you don't want it to. It might not block ads well on your tv or might impair the functionality in weird ways. It can depend lot on which lists you add, but there are many available and they are usually quite well documented about their intentions.

  • It gets tiring constantly seeing Americans treat the Internet like it's for them whilst people from other countries have to change the way they type so that Americans can understand better

  • The craziest part is they happen to both be copyright lawyers and they still couldn't fix it

  • It crashes probably 90% of the times I launch it but the few times I've managed to play I've found it to be a lot of fun

  • I have never heard it used as a racist word, I don't think you need to worry

  • The AI likely has it drilled into it that any possible notion of suicide needs to be responded to in that way, but the next response prediction isn't

  • There's something really depressing about an AI telling a suicidal person they're not alone and referring them to the vague notion of "national resources" or "a helpline"
