  • The user discovered a bug, where anyone could apply games to their account, without buying or paying. He ended up notifying Steam (after he applied games to his account).

To them, like all bug hunt payments, the cost of what they gave him in the end ($4K) was nothing compared to the damage of that being shared - they get everlasting good press over it; good will, and they close the bug. So the $4,000 is alongside keeping the games he'd applied to his account.

Sorry, I could have worded that better! It's on me for poor phrasing. English is not my native language, sometimes I can explain poorly.

  • I can do!

I've been doing so for the last one (this is, after all only my third!)...but I'll link the past ones as I go from here on!

  • I do plan to!

I get impatient, because I adore writing these, but I plan to write these weekly :)

    Thank you!

  • Then it looks like you'll be the perfect one to try this new unlocked FPS build of Abuse! You can give a true 'impression' on how you found it :)

And thank you for saying so!

  • I really appreciate that! Thank you :)

I love this kind of thing, so as long as others will put up with it, I'll share them :)

  • Exactly what I'm trying to do!

Thanks, glad it fits in well enough here <3

  • Hey, you're welcome!

Glad you enjoyed some of it :)

  • It can, but you've got to find the people passionate about it who will make that happen.

These tools are out there now, and others may see how its been done and try use the same technique for other games. Time will tell!

There's a thread on restera which details every game which is focused on right now - for decompilation projects. Its in this link here:

"I like to have an index of the decompilations that are being worked on, so here it is. I will try to keep this updated regularly. Also i consider a project as "active" if there have been updates in the past 6 months"

It's a great resource to save and bookmark!!!

  • Now this has been done, the team have made the tools available to learn from. I've seen a lot of users in forums talking about how they're planning to tackle other games from the same gen of gaming, so...I'd say given some time we'll have a good chance of a lot of games getting the same treatment!!!

    <3

  • Honestly, I have no idea! I was on Lemmy years ago, but only just returned a few days ago, so I'm still re-learning the ropes :)

And thank you for saying so! I have a blast writing these. I plan to do it weekly, so I guess subscribe to this community, and you should see it (hopefully) in just under a week's time!

You could just follow me on Mastodon too, if that's easier. I'm sure I'll direct people over to it when the time comes to post another:

  • The 'SteamGridDB' plugin is the one which does this!

  • Pastel pretty colors?

Okay judging by all these anti-gray/beige comments I'm an outlier in what I find lovely, but even this looks nice to me!!!!!

  • If you're happy with EmuDeck, and how it performs/where it stores things...then by all means stick to it! There's no need to abandon one for another. You can always just try RetroDECK, if you have a micro SD card its even handier that way as it will install there. Watch this, just so you've got a good idea of things!

As to uninstalling, if you're dead-set and serious about removing it entirely, then I'm happy to help you via DM if you'd like? It can store data in so many different places, which really made me so cross. I know the spots though, happy to take you through it step-by-step if you'd like. I'm here, and on Mastodon, and Matrix if any of those places work best for you (and, if you do need help!)

  • I guess I have the fact that I wasnt alive for that 'era' of gaming, so its maybe a bit more fascinating to me to see a more utilitarian design over what we get now.

I dislike the move in PCs and consoles where everything has RGB (you'll see it everywhere on SBC retro handhelds), or just looks garish. To me this boxy-box just looks BEAUTIFUL. Gray/beige hardware wins me over every time
