Let's play the rich get everything. The rules are the rich get everything. participation is mandatory.
  • Ultra net worth individuals, especially ones like Jeff Bezos with a lot of his net worth tied up in one company, can take a personal loan using his stock as collateral to keep up his lifestyle without needing to sell (and be taxed on) anything. It's only really available for the 1%

  • What Ticketmaster Doesn't Want You To Know: Concerts Were Cheap For Decades
  • This is an interesting perspective, thank you. I definitely learned where Live Nation was getting most of their profits from when the water fountains were hidden on the other side from the food and drink vendors, and wanted $8 for a bottle of water (or $16 for a PBR!)

I do think that part of the Ticketmaster hate is them being the bad guy for the venues or artists with the prices etc, but they can definitely be doing more. My main issue is that venues can either exclusively use Ticketmaster or not at all, and all the hidden fees. Granted, if the artist chooses "all-lin" pricing it includes the fees, but it feels manipulative that I have to mentally add 30% to the price of tickets when I'm looking.

  • 16GB of RAM Could Be the New Minimum in Apple's Upcoming M4 Macs
  • Exactly. I told her that 8gb might be fine for a year or two, but if she wants this thousand plus dollar laptop to last four years she needs to invest the extra money now. Especially once she told me she might want to play Minecraft or Shadow of the Tomb Raider on it

  • 16GB of RAM Could Be the New Minimum in Apple's Upcoming M4 Macs
  • My sister just bought a MacBook Air for college, and I had to beg her to spend the extra money on 16gb of memory. It feels like a scam that it appears cheap with the starting at price, but nobody should actually go with those "starting at" specs.

  • EE warns parents against giving children under 11 a smartphone
  • I strongly believe that a large part of the reason China is so strict with underage phone and game restrictions is because the parents are at work for too long to do any real parenting. Ideally parents should be the ones making those choices and actually monitoring their kids, but since I don't have kids I can't really say for myself.
